Based on what is "being reported", the officer appears to have done the correct thing in this instance.
NOBODY should fuck with the police. It doesn't mater if you are innocent. It doesn't matter if they are being assholes. You cannot win that fight. Don't even make it a fight. Once they start fucking with you, you are going to be arrested. You can't get out of it, you can't talk your way out of it, you can not win at that point. No matter what your color. You don't resist. You make short answers whenever possible and say nothing else. NEVER give them an excuse to beat the shit out of you or shoot you. SO WHAT if you were doing nothing, they have the right to detain and question anybody. Just Identify yourself and answer reasonable questions. Shrug if they ask you a question you don't wan't to answer. ALWAYS give them the opportunity to overstep their authority without provocation. SO WHAT if they want to search you illegally? Anything they find will be inadmissible in court. SO WHAT if they disrespect you? You can disrespect them in court testimony. SO WHAT if they rough you up, it helps you in court. Just let them do what they are going to do anyway. Half the time they won't show up in court after the DA talks to them about bogus charges and no probable cause. If they do, you can make your case in court where the judge will neither beat you nor shoot you and the officers will have to make their case, too. The assholes that arrest you are going to haul you downtown, then you will likely never see them again. Plead your case in the office with the detectives and with a lawyer sitting beside you. You may win that one. You may win in court. You will never win by fucking with an arresting officer. Trust me.
