    Petrino withdraws as per ESPN

Fowler just reported on ESPN that there are reports from Louisville that Petrino has withdrawn his name from consideration. More info later in the day he says.

I guess that means that he has been told he won't be getting an offer from LSU. Which may mean that Skip has found his man. Or maybe Petrino just couldn't take the pressure at Louisville, where they were really pissed.

That stinks. I hope it is because we are getting Del Rio or Nolan. I am not very excited about Les Miles 28-21 coming off a blowout loss to a team that is not in the Top 20.

If we get Les Miles this "List Huge List" was a bunch of crap.

Damn this is not good news.

The few big names we have heard have fizzled off the list. Let's hope Skip has some big things happening under the radar.

    Defining moment.....

Was the player/coach confrontation in the bowl game a "defining moment" for Petrino??? I think a lot of people were surprised (and less than impressed) by that episode. Yes, I know that Petrino kept the player out of the game for a few plays, but what does that say when a player feels comfortable confronting his coach in front of other players, coaches and a national audience???? I don't care how upset the player may have been about the coaching rumors....that was a TOTAL lack of respect....a DEFINING MOMENT for me and MY respect (or lack thereof) for Petrino.

Actually Petrino handled that situation pretty good with his punk reciever and unlike some coaches he had the nads to sit his best reciever for a couple of series.

Maybe NOW would be a good time to start panicking?

Petrino pulls out, Del Rio cancels interview (still supposedly a candidate but that can't be a good sign.) Les Miles reported to be leading candidate. Yep, now would be a good time to start panicking! I don't want Les Miles. Period. I would rather promote Jimbo (and that is looking like more and more of a possibility.) Unless Del Rio is a very strong possibility, LSU made a mistake not offering the job to Petrino. I am simply not buying this "mystery candidate" theory -- Jimmy Johnson, Steve Spurrier. It looks to me like Skip and LSU are going to lay a huge egg and hire Les Miles. If that's the best they can do, pretty sad. At this point, I'd certainly assess the interest level of Rich Rodriguez. I might even look hard at Mike Nolan. Hiring Les Miles would be a huge mistake.
