Most of you guys are missing the point here...
People were skeptical of Saban his first few years at LSU.
They weren't sure he could be successful at LSU.

Let Les Miles and company have a number of successful years here and he will be fine.
He has to prove that he can recruit and teach his recruits and win with them.
It will be easier to win with Saban's recruits to start, I think?

Put things into perspective, this coaching staff is suspect because its their first year.
A couple of questionable calls like the timeout after the int and going with the crowd instead of the wind didn't help any.
I am not bashing anyone just putting things into perspective.
Any coach that would come here would have a much tougher time having success after what Saban accomplished.
Some are also suspect because Dinardo won with Hullman's recruits until the bottom fell out.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong about that!

No one wants Les Miles and this coaching staff to succeed more than I do.
No way in hell do I want things to repeat such as the Dinardo era from beginning to end or worse. :geauxtige

Even IF we lose to Bama, we'd be 8-2 on the season (before a bowl) with losses to 2 teams in the top 10. That's with a new coaching staff & a hectic beginning to the season.

Miles, in my opinion, has already proved he can recruit. Up to this point, nobody could have asked for more in a recruiter. We've got the 4th best recruiting class in the country right now & Miles showed last year he could close the deal.

Not only does Miles have to prove he can develop his own recruits, but plenty of Saban's still need developing as well. Saban's undeveloped players: This season, the WRs have been a dissapointment up to this point, the QB has been inconsistent but much better than last year and the secondary is looking good. Let's hope he can continue to develop these guys.

Perhaps Miles' best attribute is his ability to hire great coordinators & coaches. Even if LSU fans don't see it, Fisher & Pelini have both been ranked among the top 5 coordinators at their respective positions. His special teams hire has worked out quite well also.

I believe there are many good time ahead with Miles as the Head Coach of LSU.

There's good times right now if people would let themselves enjoy it.

    Perspective???

I think that is what everyone who has not bashed the coaching staff has. Perspective as in being patient, realizing no coach is perfect. Realizing that the hurricane did effect the team. Not letting the way a coach walks, talks and looks effect your judgement. Let the season play out and then judge him fairly. That's perspective.

How's this for perspective : On a 25 yard field, I think Saban would have gone with the student section instead of the wind also!!! :thumb:

If Miles would have taken the wind, and NOT the student section, you would have called for his head. :dis: :dis:

    I disagree respectfully.
The reason is that it seemed on tv and I asked on a thread about this also.
The crowd wasn't as loud as they were in the 4th quarter and other times
    during the game.
The crowd sure seemed more quiet to me in the OT game vs Tenn.
I don't know just how the wind was but it seemed a factor in this game.

If we lost the game because of the wind people would be calling for his head
    as well.
We don't really know what Saban would've done now do we?

You seem bitter from your tone and comments.
    Angry or something?

You do realize coaches are criticized all the time whether they are in their first year or not.
Looks effect judgement, way a coach walks?
What does that have to do with anything.

I agree about the hurricane and all.
Maybe I was wrong about the playcalling the other night and for that I apologize but I am concerned about the offense like most fans would be.

Over and over people say "well look what saban did in his first year"... MILES IS NOT INHERITING A TEAM OF NOBODYS! He is inheriting a team full of high school all-americans... so if we have high hopes and are highly critical of bad play then we have a damn good reason..

Saban didn't inherit a team of nobodys either. Look at the posts where it lists all the talent Saban walked into.

How many recruiting stars you had doesn't mean a thing when you get out on the field. What these kids did in highschool means nothing.

So far, Miles has had a better season than Saban had last year with mostly the same team. The play has been better than it was last year.

Your hopes in no affect how this team plays - you shouldn't expect it to.

Bitter, no. Amused and discouraged, yes. You post, whether intending to or not is asking those who are not inclined to feel like the world is coming to an end because of some bad play by the football team to understand those that do believe that almost losing a couple of games and losing one is darn near reason to build a fall out shelter in our backyards. Those who would denegrate the new coach and his staff along with several of the players because they have proven they are not perfect. And you're trying to give us perspective so that we will understand that there is a good reason why this hatred and the vile comments have been spewed out like lava from an erupting volcano is justified.

Complaining about a call, or a lack of judgement or a dropped pass or an interception is reasonable. Bashing the participanrts to no end is not. Judging someone's job performance after 1/12th and 1/6th of their job is completed is not only unreasonable, it is downright despicable when it reaches the level of some of these people. Especailly considering that we don't have hardly any history at all to base these expectations on except for 2 seasons of glory out of many played.
