This is out of Saban's mouth (who is on the rule committee) http://www.lsureveille.com/vnews/display.v/ART/2004/09/20/414e4803b9a4d
From the NCAA rule book ... Rule 9-1-2-q No defensive player, in an attempt to gain an advantage, may step, jump or stand on an opponent. No defensive player who runs forward from beyond the neutral zone and leaps in an obvious attempt to block a field goal or try may land on an opponent.
So is it up to the ref's discretion if an offensive play undercuts the defender while he is in the air?
He "supposedly" landed on an Auburn player. But, I have TIVO and have watched the play about one thousand times and never did I see him land on anyone.
Since I was at the game and sitting at the opposite goalpost, I'll have to review the tapes (not that it will make one bit of difference either way) to finally come to my conclusion. I have both the CBS and Cox broadcasts of the game.
