    I wouldn't offer him any more. We can get a very good coach in the 1.5 mil. to 2 mil dollar range.

    What more could he (Saban) want? He is adored as a coach, has one of if not the best contracts in college football, makes a couple million dollars a year, has a lock on recruiting Louisiana (a football crazy state) which has a lot of great talent and cherry picking nationally, plays in the best college football conference in the nation (and it is only going to get better), has complete control over the football operation, has one of the best home field advantages (Tiger Stadium) in the nation, the best fans, best facilities (sports and academics), should contend every year for the SEC title and often for the national championship, gets just about anything he wants and his family loves living in Louisiana. And we are begging him to stay? I love Nick Saban as a coach. He completely turned this football program around in 3-4 years (but, he had a lot of help from the LSU admin, TAF, fans too). I want him to stay (Lord knows I want him to stay), but I also want him to stop jerking us around every year and I don't want to hear that lame ass arguement that Sexton, his agent, is only doing his job. Bullsh*t, he is doing exactly what Saban (his boss) wants him to. If he leaves I will wish him the best and hope he achieves everything he wants in the NFL and be thankful that he left us in such great shape. But I have to agree with Sourdoughman, there are a number of outstanding coaches that could come in here and continue what Nick started and possibly have as much if not better success than Saban did. And two weeks is way too long to have to make this decision. He needs to make the decision now so if he does leave Skip and O'Keefe can get on with the job of finding us another world class college football coach ASAP.

    If Saban goes to Miami(which he is) within 18 months he would do anything to get back to LSU.

    No chance. He'll have that program winning 10 games and making the playoffs by 2006-2007 at the outside.

    and they will be upset that he didn't win 12 games and make it further in the playoffs, and he will be fed up with all the egos and pissed off at management and mad about salary caps and agents and his daughter won't like her school. I didn't say he wouldn't succeed, I said he will wish he was back at LSU.

    I think a lot of nfl players wouldn't like Saban. They have been able to have it their way for a long time. Saban wouldn't put up with the crap tha a lot of nfl players do. The players would get mad and not put their faith in him. Imgaine if Saban came across a player with the attitude that Terrell Owens has. Could you imagine what would happen?

    That's exactly why Saban wants control over personnel issues.

    belichick=saban saban=belichick

    who woulda thunk in today's age a team could win 2 of the last 3 superbowls with "milktoast" players...meaning little flash and ego. He handpicks his type players and fits him into his system. Like the white linebacker Mike Vrabel who cannot drop back in coverage yet can rush a qb like a mutha. belichick evaluates these players and finds exactly what they are good at. then plugs 'em in.
    Teams cannot afford to have a superstar team like the steelers in the late 70's nor can you afford to have too many TO types. If you do, you can only win in the short term.

    Corey Dillon may be the closest they have to a TO, who they recently acquired yet it was a dire need and he has fit in quite well. Nick Saban would be great at anything he does because he is very smart and a psychopath when it comes to work. Not enough minutes in the day for this guy. He is obsessed which makes him what he is.
