    Excellent news, if true.

John Blake has been killing fools as Bill Callahan's right hand man in recruiting, so much so that articles have been written about his "comeback" of sorts, following the debacle at OU.

Great read, and great hire (if it happens):

I think this is probably still a ways off from happening, so anything can happen. But usually the first candidate or 2 that gets brought up doestn't end up getting the job.

How is his recruiting class this year? Having him as a recruiter sounds like it would be nice, but how are his DL's?

Both of these guys are associated with top-ranked programs. I doubt they will want to move for what amounts to a horizonatal change.

I know what you are thinking Okie. I lived in Oklahoma for years and was there to watch the Blake era at OU. Blake has always been a great recruiter and position coach, just was not suitable to be the head man. I'm all for Blake coming to LSU.

It's more than that. My dad drinks coffee a couple of times a week with a guy that (at the time Blake was at OU) was the head football coach of a small rural HS in Oklahoma. A lot (and I don't mean a disgruntled few, but a lot) of the HS coaches did not like Blake or his attitude as a recruiter. They didn't exactly discourage kids from going to OU, but sure made sure they didn't encourage them.

I sure hope that is wrong, or has changed. But I don't have a favorable view of the guy.

Well, what, then, accounts for the fact that Blake has been handed the keys to recruiting at a major university in the same conference...and the school has been destroying people, recruiting-wise, the past couple of years (and with no correlation with on-field success).

You can't say or suggest that Blake is poison in Oklahoma as a recruiter and at the same time ignore the fact that Nebraska is hauling in some sick, sick recruits...most of whom are directly credited to Blake himself.

Nebraska is only ranked 18th in recruiting this year, according to Rivals...
