It will be interesting. Obama almost has no choice but to increase taxes on the middle class. His other options are to really run up a huge deficit or cut programs which I don't think he'll do. If he hikes taxes on the middle class, it will be suicide. I bet he keeps putting out rosy "White House Numbers", then blames the huge deficit on drops in revenues that no one could have foreseen even though the CBO is releasing more accurate numbers and we're already seeing them. He's really backed himself into a corner here.
Taxes are a fact of life. Do you really expect to get something for nothing? Bush just borrowed the money and left the debt for future generations. Are you suggesting we do more of that?
I'm expecting big govt to die and give me back my money that they wasted. Turning this into a Bush/Obama argument is moot. They are BOTH guilty of squandering this country.
So what will he do Red? He's promised many times, no new taxes on anyone under 250k. Revenues are way down. He has to cut programs, tax the under 250k crowd, or run up huge deficits. My vote is deficits. What's yours?
All of the above. Cut some programs. Raise some taxes. Tolerate some deficits. Chip away at the problem from all sides.
but obama needs to put us into debt. what would happen if, for example, he didnt give people buttloads of money for their old cars? imagine a world in which you couldnt get a ridiculous amount of money from taxpayers to have your old car destroyed? can we afford to live like that? thanks obama.
