By trickle down, you mean redistributed...

They pay far more taxes than you or I ever will..

Flat Tax, Zero Deductions. EVERYONE pay something.

No, Reagan/Bush meant redistributed. It was their plan.

Only because they make more money than you or I ever will. But you and I have shouldered a bigger load because of the breaks that they get on investment income.

Fine with me. But the rich backers of the GOP will never surrender their fat deductions, tax credits, offshore tax havens, tax exemptions, depreciation, depletion allowances and other loopholes.

I actually shoulder no load to be honest with you. I make 70k with 2 kids and a wife that doesn't work so I actually get money back from the government b/c of ridiculous loop holes and tax breaks that I get.

With no dependents and a mortgage paid off, they pretty much take me for the whole enchilada. I am subsidizing you, in effect.

But I am pleased that you recognize the problem. I hear right-wingers complaining that 50% of the population pays no taxes and they assume that is it 50% freeloaders when it is simply the middle class taking all of the political loopholes built into the system.

Look I know the system is jacked, in even in a flat tax system, the richer you are the more you will pay, but to simply tax rich people more and not FIX the system is far dumber than tax cuts IMO.

Which is why tax cuts MUST come with spending cuts. And that the loopholes must go.

And its not about taxing rich people more, its about ending tax cuts that were intended to be temporary all along. It's just taking the rich back to the fair levels they paid in the Reagan-Clinton eras.

but isn't 15% of say a million dollars still more than 15% of $70,000 ? who actually pays more taxes out of pocket ? if I make $500,000 a year and make smart investments and deductions, can I get by without paying any taxes?

so the person making $500,000 and only paying $75,000 a year in taxes as compared to the person making $20,000 and "should" be paying $3000 a year in taxes, isn't paying their fair share? cause that sounds like what barry's pushing.

Why exactly do you think that the very rich should get better tax breaks than the middle class? Be specific.

That's what the existing tax law says. The same minimum deduction that the middle class takes makes a person making 20K owe no taxes because his deduction is worth more than his tax debt. Likelwise all the itemized deduction that the millionaire takes in addition to all his tax credits, tax cuts, tax exemptions, and offshore tax havens reduce his tax bill to near nothing, too. It's why the country is is in debt. We don'ttake in enough income to pay the bills.
