My P&G subscription saga is getting old. Since the new group has taken over, and attempted to get the magazine back up and running, I've phoned them a couple of times in the past, asking to see if my subscription would be honored, and that everything was still ok with it. I even offered to open up another subscription out of good faith and was told that it wasn't neccessary.

I was told that they would check and see as to why I hadn't been receiving my magazine dispite the corrections made from the first phone call(s).

Now, another month since my last phone call where I specifically discussed all of my problems, and had been promised--yet again--that I would "DEFINATELY" start receiving my magazine.

They haven't answered their phone the last 4 days and their voicebox is full.....again......

Are they out completely again?!?!?!?! :dis:

    That's sad.

I really enjoyed the year that I had with P & G. I was shocked when my TAF contribution no longer bought me a subscription.

I still have the P&G pre-season magazine issue for our wonderful National Championship Season of 2003.

    Purple & Gold SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS now...

Scott McKay was obviously that magazine's heart and soul...

They put the new owner's daughter in the first "new" edition doing an "interview" with Mike The Tiger, and they are pimping for this "We Don't Boo...We Tigerbait" bullsh!t, when they need to be working to revamp the entire magazine's focus...

People read that damn magazine because McKay put an emphasis on editorial content, insight from former players, and R-E-C-R-U-I-T-I-N-G, R-E-C-R-U-I-T-I-N-G, R-E-C-R-U-I-T-I-N-G...

It's obvious that they're using HUGE fonts, vastly larger photos, and other tools to "fluff" up their content...Hell, they had less than 6 pages worth of actual information in the last edition.

I want to know what Scott McKay's got in the works, because he's one of the very few individuals in the Baton Rouge area that -at least before he was under the thumb of the TAF - would call an LSU spade a spade...

That guy loved LSU Athletics, and had a great flair for writing, and honestly was a great voice for the fan, as well...He had great contacts and knew what fans wanted to read about and hear from the AD and the media...

Moorman is a great feature writer, but I want editorial content, because we get absolutely z-e-r-o from the Advocate, and Peter Finney is a joke, and Scooter at the American Press is fine, but he's more comedic than hard hitting...

We need McKay to get back into the game...and I am less than impressed with the new incarnation of P&G, which seems more like a "rah-rah kumbaya mag rag" now...

I used to wait with baited breath to read what McKay had to say about the program, the state of LSU Athletics, and the newest recruits for Tiger Sports...Now, it's like an afterthought...As I speak, the most recent copy has my Persian Cat sleeping on it...and I haven't cracked the cover since leafing through it when I first got it in the mail...

Fluff don't sell, P&G's Mr. Brownell!

    Pretty strong words, TE. :D

I just really wish someone out there would step up to the plate, and produce a ledgit magazine.

I have a friend that subscribes to Longhorns Illustrated. Now THAT'S a publication. When you see it, it looks just like a Sports Illustrated magazine (not as many pages of course, but it's not loaded with useless ads designed to take up space and fill in the magazine. It's very well-done and definately worthy of the subscription price.

For as large and rabid as our fan base is, it was pretty pathetic getting a "magazine" in the mail that looked like a section insert from the newspaper. :dis:

Give us a good product and we'll support it!!!!

One of my friends is one of the new owners, they are a little slow right now but said hold tight, they are now under new management and are in the process of switching locations. Have some time and patience for about 2 weeks, things will work itself out. He assured me with just a little time to rebuild they will be grade A material again.

FINALLY!!!!! Someone with some direct connection!!! :)

Your friend must be in quite the mess--cleaning up the crap that the previous owners left P&G in. I wouldn't want your friend's job. ...to have to answer to disgruntled subscribers such as myself. :thumb:

I was/am frustrated with the "unknown". I was just looking for someone associated with the new P&G to contact me by phone, email, letter--don't matter how--just something! and let me know what is going on. Know what I mean? Tell me my previous subscription payment will be honored, or regretfully tell me that that money was lost with the previous owner, and that I'll have to resubscribe--doesn't matter to me if that's the case. I like the idea of a magazine dedicated to LSU, offers insight and editorials where, living outside of LA, I wouldn't have in the first place. So if I am to pony up for another subscription, so be it....but to protect myself from being stuck in the same situation I'm in now, I would just sit back and wait a few months for the new ownership to get their feet under them before sending any more money.

    THanks for the reply.

Glad I can provide a connection. What is you e-mail address I will give it to him and explain your situation. Trust me when I say they are not just sitting back relaxing, they are really busy trying to rebuild this magazine. The old owner over payed himself and killed the company. The thing you have to keep in mind is it takes time to rebuild. I am sure there are a lot of unhappy people like yourself. I am sure they are very sorry for all this. So i will plead your case as well and give him your e-mail. Thanks.
