My read is it's in part a silly psychological ploy by Stoops and the fact that Saban seems undeterred (not requesting an equal increase in practice time) tells me that he's practicing what he preaches by taking care of his own business and not giving a damn what the other guy is doing.

Let 'em have the extra 30 minutes. It's like golf. You are not going to find your swing during warmups on the driving range. Either you got it or you don't.

I guess Stoops didn't see the game where a certain coach let their players stomp on the eye of the tiger at midfield which resulted in giving the players even MORE incentive in whipping their butts. Give 'em more fuel BOB! TIGAHS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    extra time

This could easily play in LSU's favor in 3 ways:

    1. The team is ticked off because of being slighted.
    2. They grow in confidence that Saban knows what he is doing.
    3. The Sooners are more likely to have tired legs. Remember, Saban blames hard, long bowl practices for his lack of success in Bowls at MSU.

    It's all good.
