    consider this scenario:

OU plays a really close game and loses to the national championship to say a 1-loss team or maybe even a 2-loss team if OSU, LSU, and USC all falter along the way.

The Coaches' Poll automatically gives the MNC the #1 vote but the AP voters get to pick their #1...

so there could be a split national championsip and b/c OU was so far ahead of everyone else in the BCS they remain the #1 team in the nation according to the BCS..

    ridiculous? of course...
    feasible? definitely...
gonna happen? probably not but still interesting...

Actually, i think the BCS only purpose is to determine who plays for the NC not to determine who the NC is.

So whoever wins the Sugar is the NC

The winner of the BCS Championship game is considered the National Champion as far as BCS Rankings go.

i know the BCS winner is the "true national champion" ....all i'm saying is the BCS sucks so bad is that the #1 BCS team at the end of the season could possibly not be the National Champion

I don't believe that BCS standings are released after the sugar bowl? Once the game has been played, a National Championship has been awarded, correct?

Incorrect. LSU will be #2 this season at the end ... and won't get into the Sugar Bowl

Talk about a severely screwed up system. If LSU, Ohio St, and USC all lose and Texas somehow winds up #2 behind OU. Next, OU loses toKansas St. in the big 12 championship game, but stays at #1 or drops at worst to # 2, then OU plays Texas for the national championship, while Kansas St. (champion of the Big 12) doesn't even get to go to a BCS game. Unfreaking believable, but true. Part of the BCS arrangement is that no conference can have more than 2 reps in the BCS. Not that the Big 12 deserves to have 3, just another incredible flaw in an absolutely pitiful system. Bring on the playoffs.

Correction, Dallas was correct. a final BCS poll is early DEC each year after the last Conference Championship games, DEC 9 last year.
