this is nothing compared to our 2003 def. :champs: Wonder if he'll say again that his USC team would have beat us that year? that clown
I think the '03 defense had a little more swagger to them. Especially toward the end of the season. That little extra feeling of "We're the best damn unit in the country, and nobody can prove otherwise." That attitude had a lot to do with winning one of these :crystal: Which ONLY LSU! got in '03
I'm not putting down our current guys. However the 2003 team had better cornerback play. On the ends too with Spears and Hill. Pittman and Oliver do pretty good. I think the middle of the Dline is the best I've seen in a long time. If I'm not mistaken, after the Florida game up to Oklahoma, the first team defense never allowed more than 1 touchdown during any of the games. Just dominant.
Although this year is great, I still give the Nod 2003, that was one of the greatest defenses I have ever seen. They flat out manhandled a fantastic Offense in OU that was hanging half a hundred on most people the played. White was clueless against them. This team Can at times give up some big running plays. (See AU) I dont think in 2003 Irons puts those numbers up. But its all speculation.
I would give the 2003 defense a better rating. The DE's were better, but KW is doing great over center. There was more experience at DB and safety I believe and they played great. Also, some of this has to do with the complex blitzing packages that LSU had in 2003. The teams had no idea what was coming and when, plus the play calling was a little more aggressive and the blitzing was disguised better.
