All the contortions regarding Sugar Bowl scenarios are all based on the following assumption: that Southern Cal stays at #2. This is our best, last chance to make an impression on the public at large: a national TV match this Friday versus 8-3 Arkansas. No USC to share the spotlight with, no Oklahoma to split attention, just the only other serious National Championship contender with a ton on the line, playing it's last home game of the season. If there was ever a time for everyone to put together a virtuoso performance, it's this Friday. Sure, we're tainted a tad by it being a home game, but nonetheless a 20 or 30 point win sure as hell looks good. In case you're wondering, the Hogs biggest loss of the season was by 12 points to Ole Miss at Ole Miss. (Note: Getting to #2 in just one of the two opinion polls gets us to the Sugar Bowl under the current final BCS projection as per Rick Tellshow's BCS site.)
I think that it is very unlikely that LSU will jump USC (except USC loss) no matter how they finish the season. Voters are always reluctant to drop a team when they win. Computers, however, will drop a team in its rankings even if that team wins that week. I think that we shouldn't worry about overtaking USC in the human polls because that won't happen unless USC loses.
in the human polls if LSU kicks the hell out of ARK and win SECCG big it may sway enough. you never know
