This was one of the greatest weekends of my life. My Wife got me a trip to the game as a wedding gift. We live in San Jose California and we were married the end of June.

We flew in to New Orleans Friday night and rented a car and drove to Baton Rouge. My parents came down from Shreveport and we met them at the Hotel. Dinner Friday night was Drusilla's where the food was great. Damn i miss great Louisiana food.

Saturday we went to the Old Capitol where i got to see a picture of one of my ancestors.( James Madison Wells) Gov. of La. at the end of the Civil War. Waited out the early rain on the steps of the Capitol.

Had lunch and then headed over to the game. Walked the campus and just had a great time. Watched the players and band enter and then went to our seats. Through the rain and everything my new wife sat right there . She grew up in California and doesnt really understand ( Or at least she didnt). I think now she does. LSU has a new die hard fan.

We said our goodbye's to my parents sunday morning and drove to New Orleans. Stopping at Oak Alley Plantation which she loved. We then headed to the French Quarter and had dinner at Brennans. Lets just say Sunday night after some Jazz and Dancing we were feeling good and leave it at that.

Monday we did Jackson Square and walked the Quarter before heading to the Airport.

I never attended LSU but i have been an LSU fan my whole life. . I will never forget this past weekend and the many wonderful memories i take with me.

I would like to thank my wife for being open to new things and making my life worth living.

Thank you tiger fans for being special and Louisiana will always be my home .

"I wish they all could be California Girls" - Not really. I love the Louisiana ladies too. By the way CalcoTiger, are you running for governor of California? Everybody else is.

    Hey Calico,

As you probably already know, any weekend spent at Tiger Stadium would qualify as "one of the best weekends of my life."

In Baton Rouge we stayed at the Baymont and in New Orleans we stayed at the Monteleone.

I thought about running for California Govenor but im not sure i have the ethics for it. I am honest and believe in doing what is right. Plus i have Diabetes and the stress of dealing with all the Democrats would give me a heart attack.

I would vote for Nick Saban for California Govenor but i dont want him to leave LSU.

Good to see you guys did it right. Maybe you can convince her to make it an annual trip.

My day was definitely the strangest I've ever had for an LSU game. We usually hit the Pastime for a quick lunch before heading out to campus but ended up staying there all day waiting for friends to meet us. A car flipped on the wet roads early in the day on Highland under the bridge. Then later as we were getting on the shuttle (going to campus), a guy crossing the little Nicholson? one-way extension was hit by a car pretty hard and freaked everyone out. If anyone knows his condition, it would ease my mind a little. Of course, the weather made everything somewhat surreal also for us.

Maybe next year you can convince your wife to come back to a game against a big-time SEC opponent. Then she'll see Tiger Stadium as it needs to be seen, hopefully in good weather.
