Well, it never should have happened, but it all could work out in our favor. I never was comfortable being #1...everybodys shooting for you. The monkeys sorta off their back now. In the long run, this loss may be ( and I cant believe Im saying this ) a "good" thing. For what its worth, I bet UK takes a nosedive after this game. :lsup:LSU!:lsup:LSU!:lsup:LSU!:lsup:LSU!
do you think the #1 pressure was too much? i found it a bit uncomfortable. i think i prefer being #1 after december - not mid-season.
But this team has to play better than the last three weeks! Stupid penalties and drops have killed us!
I couldnt agree more sourdoughman...this whole thing began in the Fl game. Droppped balls, stupid penalties etc..( actually thinking back on it, it may have started during the Tulane game. They better, ( excuse the expression ) "sack up" from here on out, or its gonna be painful at the end. :helmet::helmet::helmet:
Problems started to show up in the Tulane game. I thought we had them corrected in the Florida game or at least were making headway in correcting them. You can't be a champion and drop 7 passes (one a sure touchdown) and make stupid penalties - Pittman's swat at the QB in overtime was a real killer. Even with all the mistakes we still had a chance to win it against a very good Kentucky team led by a great quarterback, but just could not do it. At any rate, make no mistake, Kentucky beat us - they did what they had to do to win. We do need to run the table. Les, the coaching staff and the players can do it, but they need to focus. Next weekend against Auburn will be a real test - how do we respond after a loss. ldskule: ldskule: ldskule: ldskule: ldskule: ldskule: X
I agree that with the monkey off the back, the team (I am sure pissed off) will hopefully regroup and refocus, and take the rest of the games ONE game at a time. I really believe that knowing that your were rated #1 in the back of your head does affect you in one way or another, with added pressure and distraction. The team knows they can play with anyone if they play to their potential.
it all comes down to next week. We lose against AU, and our chances of even winning the WEST are slim and none. Its hard to believe, but unless I am missing something its true. Auburn wins, they would have to lose twice in conference to not go to the SECCG. Here's hoping we can pull it together. The D will match up well against AU, but the offense is going to have to have the game of their lives. Honestly, who doesn't believe AU has the best defense in the country? I am sure we can do it!!:thumb: :geauxtige
