With the Rose Bowl seemingly in hand, here are the people to root for today in case we get snubbed: 1. Connecticut over Louisville OR WVU over Rutgers - removes Louisville from at-large contention 2. A) UCLA over USC AND Arkansas over Florida - LSU guaranteed an at-large and prevents Florida from surpassing Michigan (which would have sent LSU to the Sugar Bowl) ....OR ....B) USC over UCLA AND Florida over Arkansas - prevents Florida from at-large contention Worst case scenario for LSU to avoid today: Louisville wins, Rutgers upsets WVU, USC wins, Florida loses in a close epic match Result: LSU in contention with Notre Dame, Louisville and Florida for 2 remaining at-large berths Connecticut @ Louisville 11:00 ESPN USC @ UCLA @ 3:30 ABC Florida vs. Arkansas @ 6:00 CBS Rutgers @ WVU 6:45 ESPN Enjoy today's games!
I second this analysis. I don't really care what some writer from the Times Picayune thinks, there is no way in hell I cheer for USC. BTW, is there some outside chance Cal climbs back into the top 14, and then the Rose go for a Pac-10, Big Ten matchup? This seems like it may be possible (i.e. Wake losing, Oklahoma losing, Rutgers losing, Arkansas losing and falling far...)
Don't we stand a better chance of going to the Rose if UF wins? That sends them to the Sugar and we would have a better chance at the Rose in the At large position. Arky wouldn't be taken as at large pick with 2 losses in a row. If Arky wins a close one, Arky goes to Sugar and UF has chance of going to Rose. I think I pull for UF today...am I wrong?
Yeah, I think the chances are pretty thin that Florida gets in the National Title game no matter what happens today. Seems the national consensus now is that Michigan will go if USC loses. Of course we don't know for sure, but I think it's pretty safe to root for Florida. I mean, worst case senario is the SEC gets someone in the championship, and we settle for the Sugar vs. Notre Dame instead of the Rose against Michigan.

I'd rather see LSU pound Notre Dame ( or someone better even? ) in the sugar anyway. I'ts closer, will generate more $$ closer to home and it's a good warm up for next year's MNC. the rose bowl is over-rated.
I'd love to go to the Rose, if for no other reason, because it may be the only chance we ever get. They don't like to go outside of the Pac-10, Big 10 very often, and when they do, it will be a rare opportunity to be that team. Add to that the fact that the Rose Bowl itself will not be the National Championship anymore, and then you have even less circumstances where the Rose Bowl will invite non-Pac 10, non-Big 10 teams. Having said all that, I too believe the Rose Bowl is overrated. Any bowl that only has Big 10 and Pac 10 football really isn't that interesting to me. Most years its not even the best non-title game BCS game. I also feel the Sugar against Notre Dame would be a fun game too. I wouldn't be disappointed in that at all.
