Common Opponents between LSU and Ole Miss:

    UF
    UAT
    AU
    USC

    Ole Miss final scores:

UF - 20-17 (Ole Miss win)
UAT - 43-28 (Ole Miss win)
AU - 24-20 (Ole Miss win)
USC - 43-40 (Ole Miss win)

    LSU final scores:

    UF - 7-19 (LSU loss)
    UAT - 27-3 (LSU win)
    AU - 31-7 (LSU win)
    USC - 33-7 (LSU win)

What you can take from this...

Ole Miss scored 130 points against our common competition.
LSU scored 98 points against our common competition.

Ole Miss gave up 105 points against our common competition.
LSU gave up 36 points against our common opposition.

Ole Miss averaged 32.5 points per game against our common competition.
LSU averaged 24.5 points per game against our common competition.

Ole Miss's defense averaged giving up 26.25 points per game to our common competition.
LSU's defense averaged giving up 9.0 points per game to our common competition.

This means that LSU averages less than what the other teams scored on average, and this is with Matt Mauck as a better passer (his rating and his efficiency is higher than Mannings, according to www.ncaa.org/stats).

This also means that LSU gives up 3 field goals per game against teams that averaged scoring 26.25 points per game against Ole Miss.

LSU's highest point total given up this year was 19 points at home to the University of Florida.

Ole Miss highest point total given up this year was 49 points against Texas Tech.

Throwing out that game, Ole Miss gave up 44 points to Memphis.

Throwing out that game, the highest point total give up by Ole Miss this year was 40 points to South Carolina.

This team is prone to giving up large point totals. To inferior teams. While relying on its offense to outscore their opponents.

This will not happen against LSU.

I'm on the record, right here, and right now...

    LSU-42
    OM-17

Manning is 3rd in the SEC passing efficiency behind none other than Matt Mauck & Matt Jones. Matt is a winner, and has been there while LSU has moved from 2nd tier to the TOP.

LSU is now a POWERHOUSE (GA, USC, etc) because of guys like Matt Mauck. Not much hype ... just business ... TEAM PLAYERS
    especially in the big games

I wouldn't trade Matt for Farchie in a million years. With the world watching FARCHIE Saturday, do you think Mauck will shine in the "SHADE", LOL.

Matt Mauck for Heisman in 2004. Get your posters now.

Gonna have to disagree. If we had ELI we'd have won the NC last year and would be on the way this year.

I'm a Tiger fan as much as anyone but Eli is a damn good quarterback no matter what anyone says. I mean.. he's ranked #15 himself. Theres absolutely no one else on that team.

Eli Manning is a well-disciplined "POCKET PUSSY" with the good training and mechanics taught to him by FARCHIE. He has been protected by a decent line (all those big beans & rice eatin' boys)He sees the field well, but he is nothing like his stump-jumping Paw, who ran like a deer. He throws high percentage short routes, so his stats look good. True, his supporting cast is limited but he has had decent receivers and running until this year.

Just how many "bad hair days" has Mr. Mauck had since he's been the starter since the TN game? Two. (Virginia Tech & Florida)

Manning has had 2 "bad hair" days this year alone. Memphis (lol) and Texas Tech late in the 4th quarter he could have done it. Ole Miss has played "over their heads" and won many close games ... now Manning is the Cat's meow. Gimme a break. I ain't buyin' this shite.

ESPN gameday sure didn't buy it, took their travelling circus elsewhere. We'll see Saturday. I'll wager the Farchie clone dies magnificently ... in the 3rd quarter ... if he's not injured sooner ... when they yank him to save his hide. No way he finishes this game.

One common opponent was left out, TE.

    ULM.

    LSU 49 ULM 7
    Ole Miss 59 ULM 14

Other than that, pretty solid analysis.

I'm gonna call it- LSU 49 Ole Miss 28

The problem with analyzing the scores is that Old Piss has HAD to score that many points to win. Other than the Florida game, LSU could have easily scored MANY more points but the games were already IN HAND and Saban refuses to run up the score (even against Tub-o-$hit).

So, our "low" scoring average is not indicative of what we can do.

Further, Old Piss has need virtually every point they've scored. Most of their games have come down to the last 2 minutes and they were scoring those points out of necessity.

I would bet that (IF NEED BE), the LSU could have put up MANY MORE point and had a higher scoring average than Old Piss. But, we just didn't NEED them.

If we establish the run by passing effectively, we win going away. Saban will throw every state in the union at Eli. He hasn't seen a defense like this. If he gets as rattles as Greene, we will be very successful.
