Re: Josh Williford I don't think Josh's offer is committable. He impressed in camp, but I'm betting the coaches at least want to see him in live action some before they would let him commit. And prospects usually don't know their place on the board until they try to commit, and if they are told "not now" they figure it out. (also if they are at the very top of our board, we will usually tell them).
Re: Josh Williford He may not be able to commit but that is far from the truth. When visiting and talking with the parents the coaches do a good job of telling most of them what the situation is. It is a terrible image to have when guys like Conner or A. McClain last year are talking to others about trying to commit.
Re: Josh Williford Maybe, but the Conner & McClain situations happen every year, which tells me otherwise.
Re: Josh Williford Well it looks like we are going to see what happens soon enough. Sounds like he is going to try to commit to LSU after the camp coming up. I am little confused on this because if we accept the commit we are likely done at the OL position unless Orelus waivers. We have Filo and Lowe who have LSU at the top or close to the top of their list and an outside shot at Nixon. All of whom I believe are higher on our board. If we accept the commit, I will be slightly disappointed because that means the coaches do not feel good about our shot at these other lineman or they expect Orelus to decommit. I might turn to rooting for Orelus to decommit if one of the other 3 wants a spot. Or they just want to take what they can get right now and worry about where the pieces fall later and make the numbers work. Williford has offers from LSU and Ole Miss and will be attending camp at Auburn soon as well and could recieve an offer from them at that time.
Re: Josh Williford True, but they have only seen him one time at the June camp. I trust Miles' evaluation of OL talent more than recruiting services. With the lack of offers and the fact he has just started to get noticed just makes me wonder what is going to happen. Williford is being compared to Herman Johnson based on his size. (Both 6'7 Guards) He is flexible and the coaches were impressed with that and his ability to move off the ball. Some recruiting analyst say he has great upside and therefore would most likely be a project.
Re: Josh Williford The lack of offers probably has to do with film. He plays in a very small classification and a man his size will dominate people. I suspect most want to see him at camp. Not that you are doing it, but people shouldnt get discouraged with scholarship offers. Same thing happens with 5* basketball players because coaches want to wait and see them with equal talent at AAU events.
Re: Josh Williford I think he's a definite project, but we're in a position to be able to take those on when they have huge upside. He'll likely try to commit soon, and then we'll see where he really stands on the board. I expect him to be a take, and I don't think that will end our OLine recruiting.
Re: Josh Williford What is the date of our camp? Williford and a few others may try to commit at that time.
Re: Josh Williford I also expect him to be taken but was thrown off some because I did not see LSU taking 6 OL in this class until now. Are you thinking Orelus will decommit, we take a must take like Filo or Lowe if they want to be apart of this class, do you expect someone to move to the Dline, or we give one a greyshirt?
