The ABC affiliate here in Houston is showing the OU - A&M game, and OU has put 77 on the board in the 3rd quarter. I have never seen anything like that.
Great game, OU is fixing to go up 84-0. Boy that a$$hole Stoops, he sure knows how to run up the score. Gee, wonder who he learned that from? Nobody will stop OU. They made Texas A&M look like they were Tulane.
A&M isn't very good though. Tulane and the Aggies might actually be a decent game. Still, 77 points is a lot. The Sooners did turn over the ball intentionally inside the 10, and put the backups in at the start of the half. I don't blame them for continuing to score. The backups deserve the chance to play too. It's not fair to hold them back just because you might hurt the other teams feelings. I would agree with you if the starters had stayed in the game, but they didn't.
Yeah, Stoops could have scored 100 points easy. Still, 77 points is also payback for losing to A&M last year. Stoops learned about running up the score (RUTS) and payback from his mentor Spurrier. I agree with you about letting the players keep playing and scoring, especially the backups. I wasn't whining about Nebraska when they hung 60+ points on us back in the 95' National Championship. I was whining about our sucky Defensive Coordinator though. Spurrier fired him after that game too. You will see a lot of people here that don't like it when an opposing team or coach runs up the score though. Maybe the NCAA oughta adopt the rules of lesser kinder sports and just call the game when the other team is up by a certain amount of points.:dis:
"Sports don't build character, they reveal it" I don't have a problem with people running up the score, but it does let us all know what type of people they are.
To name a few, Jimmie Johnson Dennis Erickson Butch Davis Steve Spurrier Bob Stoops Bobby Bowden Tom Osborne Larry Coker Terry Bowden LaVell Edwards Joe Paterno They all ran/run up the score, and they also had something else in common too.
a lot of those guys ran up the score because before the BCS it was one way they helped rank teams in the old system, It helped separate the top ranked teams when they were tied and didn't play each other. Florida, Florida State, Miami, etc.
