Looks interesting anyone have any experience with this? Char-Broil | The Big Easy Oil-less Turkey Fryer
That wouldnt really be a fried turkey though, its more roasted I mean I wouldnt mind having that, but it would be hard for me to deviate from old school when it comes to fried turkey When we were kids my parents use Hog Lard to fry a turkey. It took me awhile just to get used to peanut oil...
I'm thinking this might be easier to use at a tailgate. Wouldn't have to tote the oil around. I have to imagine that the taste would be different though.
THats very true, Oh I would like one for sure. I think you can do all sorts of stuff with that thing. I would be curious if the flavor is different
gave my father in law one last year. they work pretty good, kind of more like broasted to me. Took a while to cook, though.
Never heard of it. I'm thinkin you gotta use injection if you want some flavor. I like using a smoker myself.
The transition from hog lard to peanut oil is a tough one to make. The crust from the hog lard on the turkey legs and wings is tough to beat. We switched to peanut oil almost 10 years ago. We are fine with it now. Injecting about 48 hours in advance seems to be about right for the 10-12 lb birds we fry. We find that we would rather fry 2 small birds over a 15-18 pounder. We think the smaller birds cooks more evenly. We actually fried 2 birds last weekend since we had some famiy in from Tejas.
