Said we beat the Big 12 runner up while USC dominates Mich. Then went on to say that the BCS did exactly the opposite that it was supposed to do. *Hitting Jim Rome with Keyboard* Thanks for playing Jim, here's your prize.

Jim Rome has, is and always will be an idiot. We are not split nat'l champs because given the system, it has it's flaws, it knows that if 3 teams finish #1 that it cannot truly find the top 2 teams in the country, so it chooses the 2 teams who are most deserving. Therefore, Nat'l Champ essentially means the team that took the toughest road and that team is unequivocally THE Louisiana State University. It is LSU who got there even though the system itself was against us. Think about this: Out of the 3 teams, LSU is the team that had to overcome the system itself.

Lets start with the AP Poll. There should be no such thing until the last week of the year. The ONLY reason USC is #1 in the AP Poll is because they lost a week before us. Had LSU lost a week before USC, LSU would be atop the AP Poll. That cost the Tigers huge points in the end. It costs them points in the Coaches Poll as well because history has shown polls favor the teams who lose first. There is no argument to combat this.

Furthermore, the biggest blow to LSU's chances was the SEC championship game. It was LSU who had something to lose and nothing to gain. Same holds true for Oklahoma, but Oklahoma wasn't in position to knock off it's quality points, LSU was. The decisive victory against UGA actually wound up hurting LSU given the system. Only in perception did it help because it became obvious that we were one of the top 2 teams in the country. To those that watched the entire season, it was incredibly obvious that we were the #1 team throughout.

USC can say they are one of the top 2 teams in the country and even so, they'd still have an argument with Oklahoma, but it is obvious that LSU is the nat'l champion. Outright? Maybe not, but it's not a true split because LSU was the team who went through hell to get there. USC simply waltzed through the Pac-10 and then ran into a team that hadn't played a game since the Ole Miss/LSU weekend. Did you really expect Michigan to come out hitting on all cylinders?

The same guy who said of those Big 12 runners up, "of course they are going to win the Sugar Bowl."

Look, Jim Rome is an Southern Cal fanboi, not some objective journalist. His team didn't make it to the big dance. He's a little bitter. Ignore him.

Face it the talking heads are going to go with the bigger media market, they know ratings are the name of the game. USC is in a BIG TIME media market while LSU is not that is the only reason they are sucking USC's butt!!!!! Every single fact points to LSU as the true champion but like always the media will not let the facts get in the way of a good story. USC could have played southeastern in the Rose and won by 1 point in quadrouple OT and LSU could have beaten OU by 100 and they would still claim USC #1. Has absolutely nothing to do with facts or merit and everything to do with market size. We better get used to the fact that we know we are the true champions and thats all that really matters. GEAUX TIGERS!!!! NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!!!!!!

He commented that USC would win becuase of it's superior offense and a defense which is equal to LSU's defense.

Seems like he knows his college football VERY well to me.....................................................

Sure USC is in a huge media market but I wonder how many of the 10, 12, or 14 million people who live in the Los Angeles television viewing area actually give a shit about USC football. USC is a small expensive private school with an elitist background that is located in a bad hood near an LA ghetto. If they sucked at football they might as well be Tulane. I would have to think that there are far more UCLA alumni in the LA area that USC alums. If Tulane was as good a football program as USC there would still be a lot more LSU fans in New Orleans than there would be Tulane fans. When LSU played Tulane in the baseball Super Regional at Zephyr Stadium in New Orleans the LSU fans at the games outnumbered the Tulane fans 4 to 1. I don't think I would be going too far out on a limb to say that there are probably about as many Louisiana native LSU fans living in the LA area as there are fans with ties to USC.

Any of you tigerforums members living in SoCal want to comment on that?

Actually he said the USC defense was nearly as good as LSU's.

But that is still incorrect as well.

he came across as an ignorant punk to me. I wasn't even paying attention to the TV a while ago until this suck up started crowing about USC and I MEAN Exagerating. Now I can put up with a guy who thinks LSU and USC will be a good game, hell I can even see how a USC fan would say his team would win, BUT this jerk off is on National TV saying LSU sucks and USC is THE team ???? gimme a freaking break! Its REALLY good they don't invite people like me to "sit" in on their shows. I'd ruin it for him. That was disgusting sports journalism, no wait it wasn't that good it was a pure piece of sh*t.
