I'd prefer USC too, but any time you get a chance to kick some Irish ass (and we will) it's a win situation. They are overrated but add another loss to their record and knock them farther down in the polls and affect their recruiting and pre-season rank next year.........that's worth a lot. :thumb:
We would have been excited about playing ND in the Sugar before all this Rose Bowl talk started a couple of weeks ago. Damn, USC screws us even when they lose.
I'm still excited, the Sugar Bowl is BCS, not BS. :hihi: USC losing will help us in a lot of ways, in the eyes of the media, recruits, etc. It kinda penetrates their "Magical shield", espcically if they lose in the Rose Bowl. They are dissapointed at the thought of playing in it........not to mention that they lost to UCLA and Texas in that stadium. :thumb: Many of their players are leaving for the NFL.....if it's not for a National Championship, they'll play not to get hurt amidst the cloud over SC nation as they are dissapointed that they "Backed" into it.
It seems to me the most important thing is to win the bowl game and end up being ranked in the top 3. This gets national respect and helps with recruiting, (see last year's bowl win and final ranking). The higher we finish, the better chance we have of improving our debut in the pre-season polls. And don't forget how much fun it is to beat ND!
I just hope we are put in a situation where we can really make a "statement". I was really excited last year when we were given the opportunity to play Miami. We kicked there a** so bad the whole program crumbled. I'm looking for the same type of situation and a** kicking.
I'm excited about the Sugar Bowl possibility. Its definately not chopped liver. I just hope for someone other than Notre Dame. If they didn't have the overrated label this year I would love the matchup. I guess its better than Louisville, Wake Forest, or Boise State. Damn who's left ?  Hopefully we beat them so bad we still get national props.
My neighbor this morning (who is from Indiana and a huge N.D. fan) says he does not want N.D. to play LSU. I tried to talk him in to meeting me there for the game but he doesnt want to see that massacre.
You know this would be a great opportunity for JR to show up Quinn and possibly put himself close to or above Quinn. The nation will be able to see these QB's head to head and scouts will see who really is the #1 QB.
For what numbers are worth to you, through 12 games: Russell has a QB rating of 168.1 Quinn has a QB rating of 151.6
