Official: Butch Davis withdraws name from LSU coaching search

    I'm glad, I never wanted Butch. I just hope we continue a really good search now and don't settle for Petrino unless Skip and the crew feel he was the best candidate after reviewing them all. I would not want to get BP without the current core of LSU defensive coaches. I would not be willing to risk bringing in Louisville's defensive coaches and let them get their first taste of big conference ball in the SEC.

    Same here. A lot of people were tripping over themselves to let him in the door.

    Not that upset about that. Davis seems like he needs some time off.

    Do you guys think that Ed Orgeron is privately kicking himself that he took that Ole Miss job? It seems he would have been a good fit at LSU. I know you can't anticipate jobs opening up, but it makes you wonder.

    I doubt he would have even been on the list, and if so he would have been way down there. No reason to settle on someone who hasn't even proven themself as a coordinator.

    Was he not the DC at USC as well as the guy in charge of recruiting?

    Assistant HC (whatever that means), recruiting coordinator, and D-line coach.
