Someone posted a couple of months ago that we have a new offensive line coach. What are his credentials? Is it true that our last O-line coach wasn't as effective as he could've been in developing talent and cohesiveness? Also, is Rodney Reed guaranteed a starting tackle spot? I'm not sure if I just happened to see the few plays where he was beaten badly last year or if he is possibly a little overrated. I've heard real good things about some of the projected backups (Livings, McGill?) which is my reason for asking. Also, how is Dyakowski (the Canadian kid) developing?
Here's the bio on Searels: http://www.lsusports.net/bio.cfm?ref=00061503-3ECD-1E1B-BECD80D1FBA4FB87&sporttype=FB&indivtype=CO
I'm pretty sure that's a misprint. Tim Walton is the DB coach: http://www.lsusports.net/bio.cfm?ref=0003C06F-4F2A-1E48-8E8580D1FBA4FB84&sporttype=FB&indivtype=CO
Only rumors about last year's offensive line coach. But it is clear that the OL underperformed last year with the amount of talent that they had. Nick apparently held the coach responsible. This line has had a new OL coach every year and that has to be tough. Only the lines performance this year will tell if this coach can get the right stuff out of them. Reed is a smart, experienced offensive lineman, however he lacks the height for offensive tackle. He just doesn't have the leverage to keep a big, fast DE off of the quarterback. He will start and do well for LSU, but I look for Livings or someone else to come in when we are up against an exceptional DE. Dyakowski and Niswanger will see more action this year as OL reserves.
Searles was one of the best lineman at Auburn. If he coaches as good as he played, you'll have one hell of a coach.
