"We now have spent $400 billion and have seen over 3,000 lives of the bravest young Americans wasted." - presidential candidate Barack Obama

Wasted? I don't think so. Of course, what else would you expect from a muslim.

Poor choice of words. Shows he's a neophyte. He'll get skinned alive before the primaries even start.

Poor choice of words? You're being too kind. :)

I thought this was the only black guy in the democratic party who was articulate, good looking and clean. At least according to Joe Biden he his. So all the rest of you black dems please take a freakin bath and learn how to talk and dress like this guy.

If the end result is no better, or even worse than, conditions prior to our arrival, how would you not say that resources have not been wasted?

Don't be so sensitive. He's not downplaying their significance, only the colossally stupid decisions made by the administration.

Oh my. Did we call out one of your precious liberals? If you want to win a national office, you don't go around disrespecting fighting men. Regardless of whether you think the lives were wasted, it's simply not politically expedient. Just ask your boy Kerry.

Obama was just throwing conjecture into the prevailing political winds.
(but someone should have told him not to take a piss into the wind as well)

Kimmitt recently stated that the funding to continue in Iraq is firmly set until March of 2009.

Hillary, Obama, and others all know they will have, "withdrawl from Iraq," as a major piece of their political platform well into the run up to the general election.

However, the US will continue to garrison permanent bases in Iraq for at least the next 4 decades regardless of who wins in 2008. The Dems will simply not abandon Israeli security interests. Not to mention enough US hardware to equip 2 full mechanized divisions. We're simply not going to load all of the hardware on ships and bring it back to the US or move it back into Saudi Arabia.

Bottom line: Many of those billions of dollars went into constructing state of the art military reservations. Including anti-missle defense systems designed to shoot down any missile that Iran might launch towards Tel Aviv.

What Obama said was real lame. He had better grow up fast...

i am with sabanfan, the most interesting angle on this story really is that obama is exposing his rookie political skills. if you want to get elected, you don't word things that way. i am sure his handlers will beat this into his head.

The complete and utter hypocrisy from democrat politicians is both stunning and mind boggling. They hide behind the "HE" did this, "HE" did that and its nothing but chicken chit bunk. The middle east and muslim situation is a connundrum of contradiction for sure. But to point fingers at Bush being the "SOLE" person responsible is just plain nonesense.

Where are your post 2003 quotes regarding WMD's not being found? (Besides the 500 pre-gulf war munitions which posed no threat to the U.S. much less a small country)

    ----

Either way you look at it, Hillary is the favorite to win the Demo primaries. People who may have been offended by Obama's comments aren't going to jump ship to the Republican party.

So all of those quoted above can let out a big old "Never Mind" and it's like they never said it? I believe you totally miss the point.
