NYC a sitting duck for hurricanes

    I actually thought about this as that NC hurricane got close to NYC.
    This is an interesting scenario to me, sounds like a movie.
    Can you imagine if NYC went through something like this.
    Can you imagine having to evacuate NYC after what we saw in Houston and NO?
    I feel sorry for Bill and Hilliary's house! :yelwink2:

    Well, in New York they are on relatively high ground and a storm surge that could flood Manhattan would at least recede quickly, being unsurrounded by levees. But it sure would make a mess out of the subways and basements there.

    I remember seeing a special on Discovery about the CitiCorp Building. There was a design flaw and it was thought the building would fail at wind gusts as low as 70 mph. The repairs were made at night and in secret.

    That same year, with only about half of the rapairs compleated, Hurricane Ella was hours from hitting NYC before turning to east and going into the atlantic.

    The repairs were hidden from the public for 20 years.
