Of course, CottonBowl66 will find fault but it's nice to see how things work out sometimes:

On February 21, the Secretary of Defense announced that starting this year, the U.S. European Command would begin moving most if not all of its active combat and support units from bases in Germany to others being established in Poland, The Czech Republic, Hungary and Turkey to "better position them for rapid deployment to likely hot spots in those parts of the world."

Immediately the business and government leaders in the German states of Hesse, Rhineland and Wurttemburg, protested the loss of nearly $6 billion in revenue each year from the bases and manpower to be displaced. A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry speculated that the move may be "what the Americans call 'payback' for the actions of this government in opposing military action in Iraq." Does anyone know the German translation for "Hasta la vista, baby?"

Oh, ain't it nice to see a government with guts and a good memory. What fun!

    GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Screw the Germans. They freeloaded off us for their national defense for half a century.

If we leave, don't they have all those ready-made bases they can move their own military into?

Hey, the Germans showed clearly by their diplomatic actions that they do not value us as a partner and strategic ally. So perhaps it would be better to move our bases closer to the Middle East and on more friendly soil. It only makes sense. And I'm with BBT; since Germany does not need us as an ally, when we leave they have about a dozen or so top-of-the-line military bases, in top shape, ready for them to deploy on. I'm sure they can defend themselves against those pesky Swiss and Poles. So what's the problem?

This is the best news ive heard in awhile. I say let those French Communist and German Geniciders start feeling the effect of not supporting their supposed friends.

Its easy to talk the talk but when it comes to walking the walk they dont support us.

Let them feel the effect of our base closings and let some of the other more friendly countries benefit.

Then maybe when it comes to support in the future thay will understand what is at stake.

Dont help people that feed off you and then question how you get the food.

I say screw the Germans but don't forget that the French are
    actually worse than the Germans.

The French still owe us money from WW1, they also have screwed
with us behind our backs with this Iraq deal, sending weapons to
    Iraq when they shouldn't.
Nevermind, we saved thier ass from Hitler.

Also Nevermind they wouldn't support us at the UN.

I say screw the French and the Germans, they have now showed thier true colors and are no better than anyone else.
