....She keeps saying she doesn't know much about this or that but will surround herself with folks who do. If this "trusted" advisor is that kind of person, woe be Louisiana. http://www.nola.com/news/t-p/capital/index.ssf?/base/news-1/1067930309186420.xml
I'm sorry, but she's a duck out of water... In these debates, in her decisions, in her campaign...She's just not fit for office... Let her go back to organizing "Bon Fete" or something...Or maybe since she kissed Mitch Landrieu's ass and told him she'd expand his role in government and said that she'd love for him to stand in for her when she was unable to be somewhere, she can find a spot in the back of the office and schedule conventions and business trips...
I wonder how much Mitch's role will be "expanded"... ...when Jindal wins. I suspect sweeping the capitol steps might be a new job duty.
OUCH!!! In all seriousness though, I do favor expanding the power and role of the Lieutenant Governor, if, for no other reason, than to make the election mean something and to make the position mean something, to ensure we are in good hands if the unthinkable ever does happen. The Lt. Governor does nothing right now except handle tourism and be a "goodwill ambassador of sorts." Let's make it a position of consequence. Perhaps make the Lt. Governor President of the state Senate, like the Vice President of the federal Senate. Or something along those lines.
Jetstorm, it's an idealistic type of thought, but realistically, which branch of the government between Legislative and Executive is going to give up some aspect of power to enable the position of Lt. Governor to expand its role, focus, and power base in this state?
Do you have a link to their article? I'd like to see their reasons for endorsing Jindal. TE, you're right, neither the Governor's office nor the Legislature will give up the power to the Lt. Governor, just like a lot of good things that need to be done in this state won't get done because it means somebody's gonna have to give up some power. Pathetic really.
TuWho..THanks..... There was a great story about Austin Leslie in that paper. I am a huge fan of his and I enjoyed reading it.
