just got an email from skip...game this weekend on PPV is $34.50, WTF! anyways, here is the email: October 29, 2003 TO: Fans, Friends, and Supporters of LSU Athletics FROM: Skip Bertman, LSU Athletics Director We've got something new for you this week on the LSU campus and we hope you'll participate. We're calling it “Skip's Open House” and it's your opportunity to participate in an open forum to discuss Tiger Athletics. The Open House will be held in the Bo Campbell Auditorium at the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes beginning at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, and it's open to the first 1,000 Tiger fans who arrive. I will briefly discuss future plans for Tiger Athletics, and you'll also hear from Chancellor Mark Emmert. Then we'll have an open forum so that you can ask questions on any number of topics from me, the Chancellor, Gary Graham of LSU parking, traffic and transportation, Brian Broussard of the LSU Ticket Office and a representative of LSU Campus Police. This is another step in keeping open the line of communication between your athletics program and the Tiger fan base. If you have questions or comments about parking, traffic, tickets, facility plans or any other aspect of LSU sports, come by the Academic Center on Saturday afternoon. Also, you'll have the opportunity to tour the Center at the conclusion of the Open House. We only have one request: please don't bring any food or drinks into the Academic Center. Remember, this is for the first 1,000 Tiger fans. Doors open at 3 p.m. We hope to see you there. TIGERVISION This week's game against Louisiana Tech will be carried on TigerVision, LSU's pay-per-view network. The game is available for only $34.50 on cable systems throughout Louisiana and on The Dish Network. There are a couple of issues that arise each time we have a pay-per-view game that I need to address. First, the game is not available in Louisiana on DirectTV. Several times we have approached DirectTV about carrying TigerVision, but they have declined. Secondly, this game is available on ESPN GamePlan, but not in the state of Louisiana. According to Southeastern Conference television contracts, ESPN GamePlan cannot air a game in the home state where the game originates. That is why ESPN GamePlan is not available in Louisiana. Further complicating this matter is the fact that DirectTV, which does not carry TigerVision, does carry ESPN GamePlan. But because of the previously stated SEC TV agreements, the ESPN GamePlan broadcast on DirectTV is not available in the state of Louisiana. ONE LAST THING We receive some interesting e-mails and I got one of my favorites this week. A gentleman from Kuala Lumpur wrote to say how much he enjoyed listening to the LSU game broadcast of the win over Auburn on LSUsports.net. There truly are great Tiger fans all over the globe. I hope to see you on Saturday. To unsubscribe from future emails, please click here.
