I really didn't want to believe that there were ignorant people like this in the world but at last I finally heard it with my own 2 ears. And this is a true story. So I'm at the Florida game standing in line for the bathroom. There are some 5 or 6 LSU fans in line with me. The guy in front of me has a McCain/Palin sticker on and a guy behind me says something like "F yah, go McCain" and high fives persist. Of course I can't let this go without throwing my 2 cents so I go on to say the following: "You guys do realize that McCain and Obama are essentially the same as in both would suck for this country. I'm taking my integrity and voting Ron Paul" So they guy in front of me with the sticker on says well I'm voting for the lessor of 2 evils and bows out of the conversation quickly in a bit of a madness that I even brought the topic up that they both suck. Then the guy behind me says this "I'm voting for McCain b/c I don't want that N**** in office." I was totally embarrassed not only for that person but for my race, and my state. Not only that I heard a similar story the day before about people talking in church about not letting Obama's wife sit on the stoop of the WH and spitting her watermelon seeds on the WH lawn. AT FREAKING CHURCH! And these people actually think they are doing God's work. Sad.. I just felt like I should share this.
I agree, it is sad, just like it is sad that some won't vote for McCain because his VP is a woman. And some people will vote for a third party because of both reasons. Racism and Sexism should not have a place in the race, but I am not naive enough to think that bigotry will not play a roll in the voting.
You know, I've heard at least three people, not all from Louisiana, say they feel that when the curtains close, the racism will come out and Obama's lead in the polls will vanish. They think even if Obama leads national polls by ten points, at the end of the day, that's not how people will vote becasue of race. I don't think this will happen at all. Do you guys?
Its possible, but I dont think by 10 points. People say dumb shyt all the time to feed into the fear and hate they have within themselves. Its on all sides, whites dont want a black man, blacks voting just because he is black, some not knowing a bit of information on policies and issues, and hispanics not voting for various reasons. Id say its probably small as 8-10% of the voting bloc that fits into these catergories. So its really up in the air, how it will play out. I do believe its a closer race than the polls say right now.
Sigh....TOO many people listen to the blue idiot box and vote listening to other peoples reviews or takes on a candidate. Howard Stern was in Harlem interviewing people on who they would vote for. If they said Obama his follow up question was "what do you think about his running mate Palin" ? How do you think SHE would do if she had to take over for him.....sad to say most said "she would be great".... TOOO MANY SHEEP...following party lines
