I'll be in Alabama (small town called Thomasville, which is roughly between Meridian, MS and Montgomery, AL). So basically any place with a couple of hours drive of there will be OK. I've seen that there's a Birmingham LSU Alumni group, but they're a lot further away than I'd like to drive - I might as well just stay home in New Orleans and watch it if I was going to go that far away from Thomasville.) So, likely places are cities like Meridian, MS, maybe Montgomery, AL, Mobile (further away, but not too bad)... anyone know of any places where I won't be seen as the "enemy"? I don't want what happened to that Texas fan when he went to an Oklahoma bar a few months ago.
That'll never happen to an LSU fan... within an hour or 2 there would be 93,000 of us there to take up your slack.. :thumb:
For LSU fans Mobile will be your best bet. For nice crowds, just head up to to Faunsdale (take 5 to 25) or all the way to Tuscaloosa. Mobile is a little over an hour and a half away. Birmingham is 2+.
Do you have any recommendations on specific bars/restaurants in Mobile and/or Faunsdale? And when you say "nice crowds", that means as long as I'm not obnoxious they won't be either? No "doctoring" of my food or beverages by Bama fans?
Faunsdale: Only 1 bar, Faunsdale Bar and Grill and it will be all Bama fans...but good atmosphere and really good food. I would go here last, as their is a railroad track and that is it, but it is somewhat close. Thomasville in in Clarke County, which is dry. As are quite a few in the surrounding the area. Head up to Wilcox to get beer. I am not sure of a certain group in Mobile, but their are many bars that will have lots of LSU fans. Heroes and surrounding bars downtown are nice, as is Wings, but will have lots of Bama people. Thomasville is halfway between Mobile and Tuscaloosa...if that is appealing to you. :yelwink2: BTW, here is a very helpful map. View attachment 10020
Go to the Garage right off of Duaphin st. Behind the McDonalds on Government. Tell the people in there that Sonny Loco sent you. You will be in for a good time, or they may ask you to pay a tab I may have left there . Just kidding. It is a good place to watch the game...the fans there are cool, and I watched many LSU games in there alongside with Auburn and Alabama fans. Have an "old friends" shot while your there...it is tradition.
In Mobile that is. And it is in walking distance from an Oyster House and a lot of other bars including Hero's that Tigerbait mentioned. It is right on Dauphin, which is like a cleaner, nicer Bourbon st. I loved it there.
You can come to my house in Columbia and watch it with me and my friend, and you would be safe of course, cause we are :helmet: fans. :geaux: :geaux: :geaux: :geaux: :geaux:
Oh brudda, you couldn't pay me to drink a beer in Mississippi. Come on up to Wisconsin and you can watch it at my place. I'll even cook up some grub. :thumb:
