So after much bitching from "local residents" the authorities in Monroe have arrested the manager of an Adult Novelty Store for the horrible crime of selling DVDs depicting sexual activity between consenting adults. He could face 6mnths to 3 years in prison, and large fines. http://www.thenewsstar.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070704/NEWS01/707040314/1002 In the meanwhile, look at this: http://www.bestplaces.net/docs/studies/crime1.aspx Worst Small Cities for Crime (<200,000 pop.) 1. Topeka, KS Topeka has the highest rate of property crime among cities with fewer than 200,000 population. The rates of larceny and robbery are especially high. 2. Pine Bluff, AR Pine Bluff has a high rate of murder and the ninth-highest rate of robbery in the nation. 3. Monroe, LA * Monroe suffers from significant property and violent crime, especially assault and larceny. 4. Alexandria, LA Alexandria has the fourth-highest violent crime rate in the nation. Murder and assault are a problem in particular, but the rate of forcible rape is low. 5. Florence, SC Assault and larceny rates are high in Florence, but the murder rate is low. So is there anyone here that agrees with the arrest of this store manager and care to defend the actions of the Monroe Police Dept, who, obviously having solved all violent crime in Monroe, can spend money and time on things like this?
kinda like the law in oklahoma. you cant sell hard core dvds, but they can be packaged with other things such as magazines and given away as a freebie. ok. and they buy the mags for the articles, i guess.
As you probably know before I even write it, I think porn is gross, filthy, and low brau. If every bit of the stuff in the world were to be destroyed I think it would be a better place. With that said laws the legislate morality are always stupid. Hopefully the courts will toss this thing.
Your world would be better. My world would be slightly less better.        Seriously though, porn provides a necessary outlet to many to express their fantasies without leaving the house and going through the dangers/risks of prostitution, random hook-ups, or extra-marital affairs. Severe repression of one's sexual instincts and fantasies can lead to some pretty seriously screwed up people. I think porn is good for (adult) people, in moderation of course.
Selling porn DVD's to adults is a victimless crime. It ain't even a crime at all in most places. Write them a ticket, don't put them in jail.
I've never considered sex to be a spectator sport. It's also a bit diconcerting to see those foot long coneys while my wife is restricted to a vienna sausage diet.:hihi:
i subscribe to the school of "if you don't like it, don't buy it." why tell others how they must live???!! but that probably makes me a bad american. :usaflagwa
