If you don't think his "glowing review" of Kiffin didn't help, man.... I don't know what to tell you.

o_O Whoa now, I never said that. It was well played by Saban, but Kiffy was already top of the list of OCs.

Substantial buyout is interesting. Does Lane want to settle in for a 3+ year stay at Houston? I think it comes down to whether he sees a couple years there as more attractive to a major university than another likely successful run at OC at an SEC power be it LSU or Bama.

Maybe he feels getting back as the head guy now even at a school like Houston is necessary to land the keys to a major program regardless how many years he puts in as a great OC.

Hard to argue given previous Houston coaches and the subsequent jobs and money they landed.

We should spend the money on buying a great quarterback.

"With the Tide’s defense playing historically good football, they’ve tended to overshadow the offense, which ranks 13th nationally in scoring. Though that’s solid, it still can’t be fun trying to run plays in practice, especially with a perfectionist head coach like Nick Saban. And as one Alabama defensive player admitted, the unit’s goal at this point is to get Saban irritated at offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin.

“Coach Kiffin, he gets real competitive so he tries to scheme us a little bit, but feel like we do a good job,” Allen said. “As a defense you try to get Coach Saban mad at him and try to get him yelled at in practice.”

How often are the Alabama defenders successful in getting Kiffin yelled at?

“Oh all the time,” (Defensive end Jonathan) Allen said with a smile. “All the time and we love it. I’m sure you guys have seen those on the TV, that’s exactly how it is in practice.”

Like I was saying before....Kiffin's ego (anyone's for that matter) isn't going t last long in that environment. Who wants a boss like that?
