And then again, we might've thought we had a long list of head coaches to choose from. But look at how that turned out.
Houston not hiring Riley, and now the S fla job is open. Time to go to plan b because I don't see us getting kiffy
Saban or Meyer were never a choice. Neither was Petersen. After Jimbo and maybe Herman but maybe not, Oeaux was the 2nd or 3rd best choice of coaches we could actually hire. Unless you would rather have Petrino or Briles. Why interview Fedora, Fleck and the crowd of usual suspects just for the hell of wasting time? Brohm? He couldn't even get a better job than Perdue. Maybe we could have gotten Big Game (cough, choke, hak) Bob. Or should we have held out for Harbaugh? So tell me Stacey, just who on your list would you have rather seen get the job? (Not based on your perceived hotness of coach)
I would have liked more coaches to have been interviewed, and frankly, I wouldn't have shut down the Herman negotiations so quickly, either. I may be as wrong as crap, but our program seems very unstable right now. You listed a host of lackluster plan B-style coaches, but what is O's head coaching record? It's pretty freakin' pitiful is what it is. I can't get past the feeling that O was hired, not for his superior qualifications, but because he could be signed for a bargain. I hope, sincerely, that I am sitting here eating a big old plate of crow a year or two from now.
Hopefully, he can sustain that. But we sputtered pretty badly against the two teams with a pulse that we played on the back end of the season. It was fun, however, to step on the necks of the bad teams and bury them.
