Damn shame Ty's still suffering from Mike Shula's incredible incompetence. What, Mike, did you keep Ty in the game in the 4th because you feared Florida would pull out a 28-point play and tie the game? Idiot. Interesting quote at the end that, if it came to pass, would be the latest chapter in Nick the Prick's life story. Pull Ty's scholly,eh? Ni-i-ce...Nick could squash this sorry rumor right now...if he wanted to do so. http://www.sportsline.com/collegefootball/story/10058518
I played basketball with him in high school. He is one of the most positive guys you can be around. Hope he can recover soon.
No matter, he already made one of the 10 best catches in college football anyways. I mean, I hate to see him still hurt, but at least he can get around. He has that to be thankful for, as well as a prolific career while he played.
He was an outstanding athlete no doubt. I don't know why the anger toward Saban. He had nothing to do with the situation. Do you know of an athlete such as Prothro who has been abandoned after a serious injury? It kinda reminds me of Randy Livingston, his potential and his career ending injury.
[NLMD pours some liquor out for Livingston] Damn that guy could ball. He still played a bit in the Association, but without the injury would have been a perrenial All-Star. I hope Prothro continues to recover. Never good to see the bloody downside of this sport that we love.
Whether he recovers or not, they definately should not take his scholly away. I don't think they will.
They can keep him in school with a medical and free up a football scholarship. That would be the fairest for both sides if he isn't able to play. That is my opinion; the decision to take the medical, however, should be Protho's alone.
You can always run off a non productive player and make room for someone who gave all for the university. Heck some rich fan will pony up if Prothro needs assistance.
:nope: Off base with that reasoning... Why do so many people tend to believe what Dennis Dodd has to say when there is so much emperical evidence to the contrary? D is correct here. Last year, he took his red-shirt year. Two choices available this fall, either take a hardship year (most call it a medical redshirt) or apply and receive the exemption Deceks mentioned above. He won't lose his "full ride," and for Dodd to suggest so, while not shocking, just goes to demostrate his "talent/knowledge" of things outside of Missouri. FWIW, month one after his injury, the prognosis was never been greater than a 30% chance he would return. Right now, it isn't so much a situation where the bone is the main problem (not discounting the numerous operations he's had on his leg), it's the loss of muscle in the surrounding areas.
Probably most of you don't know about Brock Landry, quarterback from Patterson. He signed with USM, but he's got a degenerative hip condition. He ended up having a new type of reconstructive surgery, went through a year of rehab, got cleared by his surgeon to play, welcomed to the team, got his jersey....and then the team doctor refused to clear him. Said the surgery he had is so new, they wouldn't know how to treat him if he got hurt again. So the coaches offered him a coaching scholarship. Point being, there are always things a school can do for a deserving player. The don't have to "abandon" him.
