LSU needs 7 home football games to earn enough revenue to meet their AD budget. That means, they can only play away nonconference games in years with 12 games: 02 Va Tech, 03 Arizona, 08 Arizona State, 13, 14, 19. This allows them to schedule a quality home game and two others in the 11 game seasons. LSU will have to schedule a top school in 2004 to sell season tickets, because of the weak home SEC schedule and the ticket price increase. The SEC schedule is tough enough, and I think they do well considering the constraints of their budget. They have an bad non-BCS team like Arkansas State, a pretty good non-BCS team like North Texas, and a BCS team like Arizona State. I don't think any of us could do better within the current budget conditions and 11-game limitation. It's easy to say just scrap the budget and play home and homes with Michigan and Oklahoma every year, but you don't have to deal with the reality of the budget.
