I think that the women are dealing with some injuries at key positions, especially in the paint, which makes them especially vulnerable to teams who can exploit their interior lack of skill.

Sue seems to have an abundance of talent in the backcourt, especially offensively. But these folks can't guard powerful interior players. In the losses, LSU was up against athletic and powerful teams that had extensive offensive variability. On the otherhand, LSU doesn't have a strong interior scoring presence and the guards are not great long range players. Defending the LSU team is made less difficult if teams can cheat on the post players and force the guards out beyond their comfort zone. And if Seimone grabs the ball, she is instantly doubled up.

LSU has some height in Tillie Willis, Treynell Clavelle, and Florence Williams but these women are not in any way going to give LSU the valuable post play it had last year in Aiyisha Smith and Detrina White. The return of projected starters Wendolyn Jones and Crystal White will help at least defensively. But LSU is going to have to figure out how it can get into its transition offense a lot more quickly and frequently and that depends on snagging rebounds.

    Thanks.

I really don't see this team going as far as last year's. They should be better defensively than they have been demonstrating. Not saying they should have beat Oregon and Penn State but after seeing what ODU did to Penn State, I don't think LSU should have lost by so much.

Next year's team will rely on the new frosh players plus Augustus. While inexperienced, I would not be surprised to find them making it further in March than the current year's team.
