NFL wants Saints to play close to home - Tiger Stadium

    While the Saints plan to setup their football operations in San Antonio, the league offices are initiating discussions with the La state and LSU officials to hold the games in Tiger Stadium. They would rather the games be held in Louisiana as close to "home" as possible. This is per Sportscenter just now.

    yeah they were discussing the contingency plans on the radio late last night nationally. the 2nd option after TS getting a lot of talk was San Antonio.


    reliant stadium/houston was mentioned as well for future games.

    Legion Field in Alabama was also mentioned as an alternative site on Sportscenter.

    There is no way LSU can let the Saints into Tiger Stadium without affecting our own use of the structure. LSU has enough problems with construction and relief efforts to try to accomodate the Saints on top of it.

    Let them go to San Antonio or Shreveport where big stadiums are available off campus. The New Orleans season ticket holders are displaced all over and won't attending any games soon. Let Benson sell tickets in Shreveport. We've done enough for the Saints.

    I agree with Red here.
    Let them geaux to Shreveport and play there.
    I have a feeling there will be plenty of season ticket holders in Houston, other parts of Texas and western Louisiana to attend the games.

    It is only temporary I believe?
    I see no reason why they can't play at the Superdome in about 2 to 3 months.
    I really believe once they fix the levy problems and are able to get the water
    out of NO, Everything then can "speed up".
    In other words I don't think it will take as long as they say to restore basic
    services in the area.

    Provided we have no more storms headed to NO like the ones that went to
    Florida over and over last year! :dis:

    Apparently you dont understand the scope of the problems there... EVERY wooden structure that is under water for more than 2 days will have to be completely gutted.. THats the vast majority of the city. If the Saints are back in N.O. by next season, it will be a good effort. (If benson doesnt use this oppurtunity to cut and run. I can see it now.. "The city of new orleans can no longer support an nfl franchise.)

    We were talking about that just a while ago. Wondering if Benson will use this as the reason to try to move to San Antonio as he has wanted to do. If he does, **** him!
