Sorry FT - but there are holes in some of what you said. Seeds would matter heavily, as would home field. I agree that there is a point of diminishing returns, but to say anything more than 4 would lead to diminished game importance is not accurate, IMO. With that said, I like the current bowl system with a plus one for all the reasons you mentioned.
