maybe Kerry would pull our troops out and let Iraq figure stuff out for themselves with their own money.

nobody helped us after we left British rule, and we turned out pretty darn good IMO.

todays actions of hanging US CIVILIANS from a bridge was dispicable. we are wasting time and lives there for what? Oil? Is that why gas is almost $2/gallon and OPEC is cutting production by 1 BILLION barrells/day?

This occupation of Iraq is stupid now, lets just end it and deal with issues in OUR country.

Good point. The reason we haven't had any more attacks on our soil is because those who would do us harm know that Bush is not going to turn tail and run. Clinton was not willing to accept casualties and the resultant political liabilities. Bush is doing the right thing and screw the liberals who think we can just build a big fence and live happily ever after.

when they drag us through the streets, they want us to wuss out and leave. thats why they do it. it should only strenghten our resolve. to withdraw would be a incredible disaster not only for iraq but for our future foreign policy.

teach people to drag dead americans thru the street if they want to get their way, and they will do it. they should be taught that dragging our boys anywere will get them a bullet in the brain.

then lets do something over there besides get our people killed while they are patroling. lets fight back, bomb those bastards.

it is the idleness of the operation currently that is so aggrevating, especially while US citizens and military are being arbitrarily killed.

As much as I'd love to agree here, the problem is that we can't exactly who the enemy is. That was the same problem we had in Vietnam - how can we fight who we can't see. Have ya'll heard this joke?

President Bush & a few of his cabinet are sitting around in a bar discussing what to do in Iraq. A man walks up, and Pres. Bush turns to him to say, "What would you say if we were to kill 10 million Iraqis and one blonde." The guy replies, "Why would you kill the blonde?" President Bush turns to the rest of the cabinet and says, "See guys, I told you nobody would care about the 10 million Iraqis."

Anyway, as much as a bothersom as it may be at times, America still has ethics and can't justify killing all of them.

I try not to be either actually, but I tend to agree more with the Democrats side of things. But see.....even us liberals can get along with you conservatives occasionally!!!!

We can't let this thing turn into Irag Nam. And it sure has that smell right now. It's a guerrilla war in Asia with nightly casualty reports on the news. It's costing us a fortune and alienating our allies. It's dividing us at home. We are trying to win the hearts and minds of people who hate us. Sound familiar? All that is missing is Walter Cronkite.

There is a difference between quitting a war and losing a war. Viet Nam and Somalia didn't win sh!t. They are still 4th-rate third-world countries without democracy or a viable economy. The military didn't lose the war in Viet Nam, nor will they lose it in Iraq. They just quit it, because it was in the best interests of the country.

If we learned anything from the Viet Nam experience , it is to quit quickly if it is in our best interests, not eight years and 50,000 casualties down the line. I want a president who can recognize a no-win situation early and get us out. Not one who has to wait for years until we are all convinced it is a bad situation.

The trouble with the No-Win situation in Iraq is that it is also a No-Lose situation. We can't win because the Iraqis don't understand democracy which is probably incompatible with Islam anyway, since there are no democratic Arab countries. We will leave the country in a political shambles and it will degenerate into civil war and anarchy, and we will be blamed for it. We can't lose because these guerrillas can't defeat our military. We can stay there as long as we want to.

So, if we can't win and we can't lose there are only two other options. We can stay or we can quit. The status quo is too poor to consider remaining in this situtation. I want to see an exit strategy. One we should have had before getting into any war. It doesn't have to be abrubt, in fact it should be staged and well-thought-out. But it has to happen soon. Not in eight friggin' years.
