Is anyone else a little amused by the fact that the new football facility will be built AROUND the indoor practice field? Isn't that like building a house around a trailer? I know it doesn't have to be a piece of architectural genuis, but still seems a little funny.
I was surprised when I first saw the sketch of the plan. I had always pictured it being a stand alone building in that area.
I think the whole point was to have the entire practice facility in the same building. Saban talked about being able to see the players walk by his office on the way to the weight room, practice field, training room, etc. Granted, the current indoor practice field is not that attractive but function overrules form.
The indoor facility ain't real attractive, being essentially a big metal barn. Fronting it with brick and glass sounds like a good plan to me.
Many people consider our indoor facility one of the best in college Football. Hey at least our Practice Facility is not like the one Texas has in Austin. It is an ugly bubble and is located next to a major freeway. This thing looks like a big blown up plastic bag.
