I think those stats can be helpful but also misleading. Who does USC play of course they are #1 in total D. Defensive stats can be skewed greatly by the level of competition. However you don't need stats to see what LSU is doing isn't working whether they are ranked 35th or 5th. There are many things that need to be considered other than defensive rankings when choosing the next DC should that happen.
I'm not 100% sure how they are working it this year. I'm not even sure that they are sure how they are working it this year. If Mallory is in control then he needs to be relieved of his duties as DC. However I don't think Peveto is qualified to take the lead partly based on what I posted earlier and partly because he certainly hasn't helped the current situation. Someone out there can take this boat load of talent and mold it into a quality defense and I feel it's time to find that person. I don't feel that person is currently on the coaching staff. JMO
You're probably right, but I'm betting he gets a HC job elsewhere before Mack gets tired of running the show. Wouldn't surprise me at all to see him at Clemson or possibly even Tennessee should Fulmer decide to retire.
I was going to suggest Ed O...Helluva D-Line coach, called the Defense for the Rebs the last few years and did well with sub-par talent in that arena, and the guy can flat-out recruit.
Ed has a pretty good job now which is lucky for him after the debacle at ole siss. I don't see him moving so soon.
That would be a win for the Saints. I started this line of thought as the rumors of Pelini leaving and Ed O getting canned last year were becoming more and more real. Les should have jumped on him or John Tenuta when he had the chance.
I saw Bill Oliver's wife shopping for furniture this weekend. I think Kirby Smart coming back here would be a decent choice.
