This is a perfect example of why I don't think those who support the AZ law actually gives a damn about actually doing something. How many times do I have to state go after the employers? It's against the law to hire illegals. The state could have developed standards to verify legality and the standand of record keeping. Employers could be periodically audited. Severe financial penalties taking substantial personal and business assets for each violation. Substantial rewards given for leads resulting in violations. etc, etc. There are some implementation issues that have to be decided, but if you want to a major effect on illegal immigration, you have to change the incentives.

Illegals do not TAKE jobs from legals. They ACCEPT jobs from employers who TAKE jobs from legals and OFFER them to illegals. Aggressively go after the employers and change the equation.

Gee thanks Wally. I'll be sure to ask you about everything I see/read/hear to know whether the source is "bad" or not. FYI, my source was my eyes, ears and brain. If that's not good enough for you, sorry.

How many times do we have to repeat it? No one is arguing against that! I advocate attacking the issue from both sides--supply and demand. Remove economic incentives, remove benefit incentives, enforce penalties for illegal employers AND immigrants, and make a serious attempt to find and deport the offenders.

Interesting take, I dunno if I totally agree saying that those who support the law don't give a damn about doing something.
First of all the governor and politicians who have enacted this law have taken a big political risk for doing something.

I agree with those that say this has to be addressed from all sides of this issue.
You say its against the law to hire illegals which I agree but it is also against the law for them to be here in the first place.
Lets go after those in the federal and state governments for not enforcing federal law.
Hell, why don't we all pick and choose which federal law we want to obey, enforce or not?

Do you think if Employers stop hiring illegals the number of illegals coming in would decrease significantly? And just think, if we legalize drugs, there wouldn't be any need at all for our friends south of the border to come here.
