The series is still running and is on issue 94. Collectors desire first prints of issues. The very early issues, like number 1 and 2 were very short printed. There were about 7,000 copies of the first issue. Later issues have runs of 25,000. From early on I pegged this book as one that would be desired by collectors in the future, so I buy two copies of each issue. I read one issue, and stored the other copy away. I'm selling my near mint once read issues because the series is sending the prices through the roof. I'll probably clear about 2000 selling the first 50 issues. Buying them new at cover price cost about 150 bucks. If you want to read the stories you should get the trade paperbacks. They collect 6-8 issues under 1 cover and cost about 15 bucks. It is a much cheaper alternative to buying the comics. I think there are 15 volumes right now. Here is a link to an auction for the trade paper back the collects issues 1-6. Hmmm, if only there were a place you could go borrow books for a short amount of time and return them when you are done for a small fee like a movie store for books. It would be even better if you could borrow them for free. :hihi: Good natured sarcasm aside, I checked out the series from the library a few books at a time. I am too cheap to spend $15 per book for something that I don't want to keep long turn. Downside is you have to wait quite a bit to get your hands on the newer ones as they are always checked out.
I actually didn't know the library carried comics, but that is good to know. I'll check ours next time I'm there. As for last night's episode, I'm surprised no one has commented on it yet. ***SPOILERS AHEAD - STOP READING HERE*** The Rick/Shane conflict finally came to a head. And, what we suspected Jenner whispered to Rick was finally revealed (if indeed that was it) about not having to be bit to turn. It's obvious now the everyone is already infected. Rick knew this, so it's hard to understand why he turned his back on Shane. Deryl and Glenn are piecing it together, if they haven't figured it out already from killing the Randy walker. It also looks like the farm is about to be overrun, which we knew would eventually happen to advance the plot, but how they're doing it is not very believable to me. I mean, they've been there for months and only seen a few of them on Herschel's land, but now all of the sudden, there's a giant hoard just a few. Of course, I'm basing this on limited information from the brief scene that was shown, so we really don't know how that's going to play out.
Yeah, when Deryl and Glenn figured the boy had died of a broken neck without any bites, I'm sure they are starting to wonder. Gosh, that was the best episode of the season!! Sweet move Rick put on Shane, I must admit, didn't see it coming. Thought for sure Rick was gonna tuck his tail and surrender to Shane. So if they are all infected? Next episode is a mass suicide and the dead walk the earth?
Some of the natural barriers that kept zombies away from the farm have diminished. At the beginning of the episode Hershel said the creek was down, and the mud in the swamp was hardening. The zombies that would at one point have been stuck in the mud are now free to make their way to the house.
shortbus Carl can't hit a standing still zombie from 11 ft with a rock...but under duress, he got about a 20 yard head shot over rick's shoulder, in the dark, with a full-sized pistol he'd never fired before. LOL
They won't turn into zombies while they're living unless they get bit, but when they die, they will; unless the cause of death is due to a brain injury. That's how I understand it anyway. Supa is the resident expert and can clarify.
