    N. Texas may just have to wait...

...to get their asses handed to them.

    Say hello to TS Katrina.

Notice the last projected point...predicted Category 1 on 08/29.

I'm sure Yates Construction is excited about this.

It has been our recent luck that it will turn north before it gets to us, BUT it might just run out. And think of this, if it hit new orleans how many of those hotel rooms in BR and points west are arleady filled. NOT to mention all the people planning that one last beach trip for Labor Day. This ones timing sucks.

Our luck is definitely running out. We've continually dodged some serious bullets for quite some time now. Andrew was the last real hurricane to hit us, and that was 12 years ago. Fortunately, there's not much gulf between the last projected point and the shore of Louisiana. So she shouldn't strengthen to much if she comes at us. That may be our saving grace.

I hope it heads west. Wouldn't cancel the LSU game AND I could probably get a day or two off. COME ON KATRINA!

Yeah, well, the drainage systems in the entire metro area of Houston are designed for the 2-year storm, whereas most cities' are designed for a 10-year or even 25-year storm. So you could very easily get way more than you bargained for.

It's a Tuesday landing and the game is Saturday night. If Alabama Poly could play after Ivan...

As for the hometown holding up to a storm, the stunning growth in Galveston County, southern Harris may make for a tough ride. I've seen the storm surge projections and just about everything up to Lamarque was under water. During the dark ages I vaguely recall Carla just hammering Galveston, Kemah, Texas City, and Freakport.

I know in the '60's a Florida game was postponed because a chlorine barge sank around downtown BR during a hurricane.

I hope this thing stays as far away from us as possible.

    can hit those guys...... :(

Yea, from the Caribbean and through the Gulf? That was a unique path. :hihi::thumb:

I guess at this point, all hurricanes head to the Pensacola area. It's like they got a memo or something.

Katrina will turn north aftering entering the gulf and head towards the Florida Panhandle. Katrina will get them twice ... south Florida this weekend, then north Florida middle of next week.

Gotta suck to be a Floridian these days with all the hurricanes...
