Meyer interestested in the UM job? I saw a comment posted that Meyer made a comment on a radio show yesterday that he would be interested in the Michigan job if it comes open. Stupid PR move before the start of the season and with recruiting in full swing. If he is making that type of comment, he must be thinking that there is a real possibility that that job will open up. A link without the actual radio broadcast, but to an article addressing the same topic: http://www.collegefootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm Meyer Has Interest In Michigan Job? Several of our sources have confirmed to us that Florida Coach Urban Meyer -- he of the 7 year, $14 million contract -- would be interested in the Michigan job if (when) Lloyd Carr is fired at Michigan. Meyer, in stints at Bowling Green (2 years), Utah (2 years) and Florida (1 year) has an overall mark of 48-11 (.814) and is 29-9 (.763) in conference play as a head coach. Included in his 48 wins was a streak of 20 consecutive victories that was the second-longest in the nation at the time. His .814 winning percentage ranks seventh nationally among active college coaches during the last five years and his teams have been ranked in each of the last 33 Associated Press Polls, with 14 of those appearances in the top 10. His first year at Florida produced a nine-win season and a January Bowl game victory, the Gators' first since 2001. Florida's final ranking of No. 12 in the Associated Press Poll was also its highest season-ending ranking since 2001. Forget the fun and sun ... I want slush and pollution.Per our sources, the buyout provisions of Meyer's contract are not too prohibitive to prevent him from moving to another gig.
Re: Meyer interestested in the UM job? Interesting... but probably nothing more than a passing thought & comment.
Re: Meyer interestested in the UM job? Maybe he feels his "system" would work better in a weaker conference. :hihi:
Re: Meyer interestested in the UM job? Les Miles is a Michigan alumni. I wouldn't be surprised if he is interested, too.
Re: Meyer interestested in the UM job? Michigan is a great job. Just about any coach would be interested, at the very least.
Re: Meyer interestested in the UM job? I agree on any...i said just about to factor in Bobby Bowden, JoePa and Houston Nutt. :thumb:
Re: Meyer interestested in the UM job? Yeah, but those "passing thoughts and comments" get you in serious trouble when you're at a school like Florida--be it with the administration, or it's boosters--or both! Someone, mark my words, high up on the Gator food chain, will not take kindly to those comments....
Re: Meyer interestested in the UM job? The Gator faithful are not going to be happy when Urban doesn't win the SEC this year anyway. So what will this story matter on top of that? But this comment is typical of the noise that he creates for himself by what he says off of the top of his head. After all, a few days ago he called Tebow a gorilla... http://www.tbo.com/sports/gators/MGBHR7YPCRE.html
And people criticize Miles for speaking very little about his team other than cliches. I'd rather him do that than put his foot in his mouth like CUM has been doing for over a year.
