Just thought I would share a little of the trip for those that did not get to make it up there. We left on Thursday and went up to Memphis. I was really impressed with Memphis. We saw the Peabody ducks....kind of corny but had to do it. We also went to the National Civil rights Museum. To my surprise it wasn't all that political. It was more about history. Friday evening went out on Beale St. It has nothing on Bourbon St. but did hear some great bands and saw a lot of LSU fans. Drove to Ole Miss early Sat. morning to see the campus. They do have a beautiful campus with lots of good looking women. The Grove(sp) was cool to see but it's not my kind of tailgating. It is wall to wall people with very little room to move around. Here is the only bad thing I have to say about my trip. When entering the stadium the frisked everybody like a police frisk. At first i thought it was just LSU fans but then saw they treated everyone that way. Their stadium is nice but small. The Ole Miss fans were really fired up but so were we. The game was absolutely exhausting but we won. ALL of the Ole Miss fans treated us very well and only saw one drunk guy messing with some LSU fans after the game. The way they behaved towards us impressed me. Overall it was a great trip and we won!
I had some friends that didn't have tickets. They tried to watch the game with some Ole Miss people outside the stadium and they told my friends to f*ck off...They eventually said it was cool if they watched the game, but they couldn't "cheer or anything for LSU." Probably not a big deal, but just put a sour taste in my friends mouth..Anyone else have stories, good or bad?
It was the best danm football game I have ever been to in my life. I felt like I was going to die a couple of times with all that suspense. I was on the SG bus trip and I had a blast. I don't think this was on T.V. but during the Senior ceremony we did the "boring thing with the newspapers, like we do at b-ball games. That was cool. The Go to Hell Ole Miss Chants was used all game long along with some other ones. The LSU crowd was pumped up the entire game. We were really rockin when Ole Miss was backed up into the endzone with the LSU fans. There some problems though. For one thing the endzone they stuck us in were terrible. You were about 2 inches or less from you neighbor. Plus they are bleacher type seats so if you were down at the concession stands you had to watch for falling liquids. Saw a few people get an unexpected shower full of soda one them. Also I had to wait forever to get a soda. I left right after the end othe the 2nd quarter and waited all halftime and into the 3rd quarter to get a coke. Other than that things were for the most part ok. The Ole Miss fans I saw were pretty cool. I talked to one while waiting for my soada and he was cool. We were talking about SEC football and how the big 12 sucks. I did see however a middle aged Ole Miss man mooning our bus as we drove by. Plus there were the usual smack talk about people from Louisiana. From what I saw of the campus it was not something to right home about. The frat houseas looked terrible. Thwey were like the houses you'd find on State Street near the Canes. Very run down. Well I guess nothing can compare to the beauty of LSU. Thats about it on my trip to Ole Miss.
I made the trip with my two of my cousins, roommate and another friend. We drove to memphis Friday night and met up with another cousin of mine who lives there. My three cousins had tickets the other three of us did not. I was able to get into the game though. The tickettaker didn't tear my cousins ticket and they called me and i met them by the gate and they passed it through the fence to me. My roommate and other friend were watching the game with some Ole Miss fans in the grove. They had to stand in the back and couldn't cheer. They also got cursed out by the guy who owned the tent. We talked trash all the way back to Hwy 6. A girl in a car took offense to something I said (I think it was have fun in Shreveport). Seh told me that Ole Miss may have lost, but we are still better than people from LA. I replied you arent bettet than me you are fat. We ended up meeting these girls at a gas station and they were calling us illiterate inbred cajuns. I asked the girl who said that to spell illiterate and she couldn't. We ended up making friends with these broads and went out on Beale St. with them. In all I had fun, and a lot of it. I found the Ole Miss canpus realy pretty, the fans snotty, and the tailgating subpar.
A few of us had to watch the LSU vs. Jawja game at our tailgate party on the Parade grounds. Through out the game we had several of their fans join us. Not only did we allow them to cheer for their team but we also feed them and gave them drink. I even consuled them after our victory.
Oh yeah and Ole Miss claims three NCs how pathetic is that. I would like to know how many times we have been declared champions by one computer or another. I think its pathetic on their part that they claim unrecognized championships, but I guess when you have no tradition you have to invent some.
My Trip to Oxford We drove in Friday night and stayed in Tupelo, Ramada where coincidentally the Ole Miss football team was staying. Right across our room Their were six state troopers gaurding the rooms. I guess they were afraid some LSU fans would try to wake ELI up, as if. We thought the Ole Miss Football players looked a little sluggy waking up getting on the bus. Saw Elvis' small Birthplace and headed into Oxford. Beautiful weather, beautiful campus super nice Ole Miss fans let us eat with them and watch the Ohio Michigan game. I was pretty much impressed with all the Ole Miss fans and would reccommend Oxford as a road trip. Thank you, Thank you to the LSU fan in the square who sold us 2 tickets on the 20 with all the other LSU fans we paid $150 each and it was damm worth it!! There was a Docter's name from Metaire on the back of the ticket. I stood up pretty much the whole game and hugged and dapped the fans in our section. I'd have to put it in one of the best 12 or so games I've seen in my life. What a nailbiter. Thank you LSU Defense you are the Bomb and one of the best NCAA Defenses I've ever seen! Ate Jambalaya with LSU fans after the game and listened to wwl on the way back to Baton Rouge. Pretty much a great day.
Just back from Memphis. Great game. Met some unfriendly but not obnoxious Ole Miss fans, lots of friendly ones. Took a piss in the Hoddy Toddy Poddy, that was the best ole piss I ever took. Caused some havock in the grove, with L S U chants. My friend spoofed the Hoddy Toddy cheer with the "Hokie Pokie" , Ole Miss fans drew the line there and really let him have it. Our tickets were right in the middle of the long time Ole Miss season ticket holders ( a friend from Connecticut got the tickets, long story). Four purple shirts in a sea of red. All was silent after the kicker missed the second field goal ... of course, except for us, if eyes could kill we would have been dead ! Must say they were gracious in defeat. Not bad for a first time experience there. Sure glad we one.
We had a great trip. Overall, very impressed with the conduct of Ole Miss fans. Would love to get my hands on one of those yellow "takin' over the grove" tee shirts. Anyone have any ideas?
