I kow you've all been wondering, "What does SEN think about the Gubernatorial Election?" Here are, in brief, my thoughts on the election: - Jindal is destined for great things. He has the power, the drive, and the intelligence. His energy, his honesty and his personality appeal him to people. If he is elected or not, he will move on the bigger things than the Governorship of Louisiana. - KBBlano isn't energetic, she doesn't seem to have the power, drive and general personality bonuses that seem to have put Jindal forward. She seems to whine and cry a lot. She refers to herself using her full name in the third person, I hate this most of all. Jindal is the better candidate, he's not a whiner, he's not a bickerer, he gets things done, he wants to do things, and the only thing turning this election into the dullness that it has become is KBBlanco's constant avoiding of Jindal's challenges. She has time to call press conferences and cry about Mike Foster, but doesn't have time to debate? She has to raise money, she says. I don't buy it for a minute and I hope the people of this state don't.
Blanco will win 53-47. Louisiana is not going to elect a non-white Republican. You have the self-styled white moderates who claim to want fiscal "responsibility" but their excuse will be that Jindal is too much of a "right-winger" because he apparently doesn't agree with some of the Supreme Legislature's opinions (the most recent ones where they changed their Supreme minds on what the theme of the tired document is). The negroes are going to vote D, there's 20-25% of your vote. The Duke vote which went both to Duke and to Breaux and to Foster and to Landrieu (about 5-10%) will go to Blanco because Jindal isn't white. Blanco will be a nice figurehead, keeping Louisiana exactly where it is, the same group that controls, whether they are calling themselves D's or R's today or yesterday or tomorrow (they can flip flop depending on the administration) will stay entrenched, the state will stay a sad sack, and life goes on in the great state of Louisiana. Louisiana won't risk meaningful change with a guy like Jindal.
