Check out the local area forecast:

    http://www.weather.com/weather/narrative/USAL0035

and initial stories about the damage to areas in and around the Ala. shoreline:

Based on all this, I'd be surprised if the game was cancelled. Other parts of the state may get deluged with rain, but Auburn itself should be clear of the really heavy stuff later today/early tomorrow. The storm should clear out of Alabama by late tomorrow and the game should be played in the sunshine (even if the field will probably still be a mess).

I predict Auburn will make this official later this afternoon.

The Auburn Morons (yes, yet another new nickname) can gladly get their wish at this point. And, when we beat them, they will have no excuses. In fact, we will enjoy taunting them that it would have been a worse beating on them on November 6th.

Isn't it sad that they have to play us early in the season AT ALL COSTS? A championship program like LSU, Tennessee, Miami, FSU, etc., would not worry about such things.

On sports radio yesterday, the Auburn fans were dead set on playing this weekend because they felt this was there only shot at winning the game. They didn't want to play in November because they have seen the track record that Nick Saban's team is almost unstoppable in November.

Isn't it funny all the lsu fans complaining that we have to play because they also feel it is Auburn's best shot to win? I don't want to play because it is ludicrous to make all my friends and family have to suffer the weather traveling, etc...not to mention the havoc the cane will cause on the way up there. The bitching goes both ways, I laugh at both school's fans for their focus on what the weather means for winning the game, not what is right

A couple of unconfirmed updates from other sites, etc.:

--ESPN News in now saying game may be rescheduled for Sunday (?--Again, unconfirmed, plus I can't see CBS wanting to do this)

--Reports in/near Auburn (hotel clerks, etc.) are that the storm wasn't that bad. One guy who lives in Auburn claims he never even lost power

--Speaking of which, another report of about 400,000 in Alabama without power, but at least half of that is in and around the Mobile area only. Rest of the state isn't that bad (then again another post says Montgomery has "widespread" outages, so I don't know)

Apparently, the Friday morning deadline on a decision was reached when CBS confirmed that they'd have to hustle a bit but they could "make it happen" for a 2:30 Sat. kickoff.

Still think the game will be played, but we'll see soon enough.
