1911 is just a platform, but yeh most 1911 platforms until the last few years were only available in .45, the new micro pistol craze (.380/9mm) have changed that outlook, and sales of them are booming.
I've got the Kimber Ultra Carry ii in a .45. It's a nice compact, but I'm thinking about the micro. I didn't realize they were chambered in 9mm either. I thought it was only .380. That changes things.
You don't. They don't glow in the daylight they just keep soaking up the energy from light, just look like ordinary sights. But at night, in low light or total dark they glow like cat eyes. They're a very good investment for all handguns, but they can run $100+ for front and rear sight depending on maker.
I believe the Kimber Micro 9 is a new line, the .380 has been out a while. The Sig is backwards, their micro p938 has been out for a few years now, their p238 .380 is fairly new tho.
Which Glock do you have, the 22, 23, or 27? I used to have a 23, I prefer compact models for concealment vs. full sized and sub-compacts. I would suggest investing in a pair of tritium sights, you can never have enough insurance when it comes to acquiring targets.
I seem to be in a minority, but I really like my Springfield XD sub-compact. No complaints, but don't see many others that like this one!
